did anyone else here take the plan test when they were in 10th grade? my little brothers taking that sometime this week i think. Its supposed to be a pre act kind of deal. of course i don't really know why its called plan i mean i thought then it would be PACT. ahh well i'm sure it stands for something. Well it gives you a projection of what your ACT score will be when you take it the following year. I went and looked up my old PLAN test scores and it projected me to score between 17-21 on the ACT. well the first time i took it i got 25 and the second time i got a 26. I'm gonna take it this comming saturday to see if i can do any better but if not who cares 26 isn't worth crying over. but yeah 26 is also 5 points higher than the plan i said i would do on a good day. I never took the PSAT but i bet that has the same issue going on. maybe they should just get rid of those test all together and just give the 10th graders the straight up ACT. not like its gonna hurt them any.
Maybe the plan test is something the school sort of judges themself on to judge 10th graders from year to year.
PLAN to ACT

Tests like PLAN and PSAT aren't only for projecting scores on the actual tests, they help students to get used to the kind of questions they'll encounter. I took the PSATs 3 times--once my freshman, sophomore, and junior years. Each time I did a little better and did very well on my SATs after that. If I hadn't taken the PSAT, I wouldn't have known what to expect and, honestly, I doubt I would have scored near what I did.
I never took the PLAN because I never heard of it until a little while before I took the actual ACT. I did good on that as well, but I think that taking the PSATs and SATs helped with that--just because of the general standardized test part.
I mean, even like you said--you were projected to score between 17-21 when you took the PLAN... who knows if you hadn't taken that and just took the ACTs, you might have GOT somewhere in that range. But being exposed to the questions and knowing what to expect, you knew how better to approach the test when it came time to take the ACTs.
Sorry this is so long.
