The Problem With These So-Called Revealed Religions.

son_of_disaster's picture

I have a huge problem with these revealed religions.  My question to you is that if God revealed himself to you, then why the hell does another religion claim the same thing?  Gee, sounds fishy to me.  Let's look at their religious books.

The Bible-God told man what to write.

The Torah-Same thing, and tradition.

The Koran-Fell from the sky to the prophet Mohammed.(if I'm wrong someone please correct me.)

So folks, um three different religions and all say that they are the one religions, for all you who can't wrap your heads around this, these three religions claim to be the Neo, like the dude in the Matrix who was the One.  The one to save us all from damnation.  So who am I to believe?

So the main problem with revealed religions is that all major religions claim to be, you got it, the one true religion.  It makes me feel really stupid for believing in Christianity for 15 years.  Whether you believe in God or not.  We have the ability of reason and logic, use it, don't blindly follow something that makes absolutely no sense.

If you're gonna rate my blogs, at least be decent enough to explain why you rated it low. Thank you.

Mohammed received the Qur'an from the Archangel Gabriel. Don't ask why I know this, but it's the correction you asked for.

The month of Ramadan's relevance is the fact that we believe that the Qur'an began to be revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) during this month and when it was finished (it was revealed throughout the Prophert's life)
It was also the month of Ramadan when the Qur'an was completed (it's confusing because it's the lunar calendar)

To son_of-disaster---- I have had this question confuse me before too, How can we know that our religion is the right one.

In Islam, the answer seems to be saying like: we accept the Torah and Bible as also being Holy revelations to Prophets (we accept Moses and Jesus to be Prophets)
BUT it is said in the Quran that those peoples (of Moses and Jesus) were led astray and the Books are no longer in the words that were sent by ALLAH (they have been altered) and
Islam's first proclamation of faith (called the Shahada) is (from wikipedia)

The Shahadah (Arabic: الشهادة aš-šahādah, [1] from the verb šahida "to testify") is the Islamic creed. The Shahadah is the Muslim declaration of belief in the oneness of God and acceptance of Muhammad as his final prophet. Recitation of the Shahadah is the most important of the Five Pillars of Islam for Muslims and is performed daily.

NOTE that it says we accept the Prophet as the LAST one sent by ALLAH (SWT)

That still doesn't convice me, besides I've already figured out what I believe. I'm a deist. But thanks for giving me a history/religous/linguistic lesson about Islam, albeit a small one, but one nonetheless that helps me understand the world around me and the religions in it.

From a religious standpoint, that theory actually makes sense, at least as far as the books are concerned. The Bible and Torah have been translated so many times, it's hard to believe it still has the integrity of the original texts. You also have the empires who used Christianity as a means to conquer people. Who's to say the books haven't been altered? That's not to say the Koran hasn't been altered over the years, but from my understanding, it's still in its original language, isn't it? Or it's not nearly as widely translated as the others.

The religions themselves, in essence, are also nearly identical. Yes, there are differences...the Pillars, the status of Jesus, other traditions...but the main point - the Allah, God, is the one, true god and He gave his people a book that provides instructions, lessons, and whatnot.

I'm inclined to believe that millions of people can't be wrong in the belief of a God. However I'm inclined to believe that revealed religions are nothing but a crock, and I believe there is a deistic God, but not a God of these revealed religions.
