Prompt #2: Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?

I recall sitting in my English class sophomore year, reading random quotes on the wall, when I came across one that states, “Small minds discuss people, Average minds discuss events, but Great minds discuss ideas.” For some reason that day, I claimed it as my words to live by. The experience I had sitting in that class made me understand that life shouldn’t be spent doing things that serve no purpose whatsoever. Living with your head mixed up in nonsense, that shouldn’t matter is like pollution. The message from that quote is something that I apply to all aspects of life. I believe that my life should revolve around doing productive things, whether if it is the classes I take or discussing the issues of today. I put myself in situations that I perceive will help me grow as a person, not deflate and become an empty shell. Philosophy has always intrigued me, I despise ignorance and I am attracted to practical thinking and logical application. My efforts to seek what I personally want have been very rewarding. I hold a strong collection of friends who I hope to be surrounded by later on in life. People respect what I have to say because I use my head and I wouldn’t sacrifice that for anything. I feel that through the trials of my life, being able to think like this is astounding, as few who go through more desirable circumstances could be blessed with the ability to think so soundly. What's with the single huge paragraph and the word count at the end? Am I missing something?

“Small minds discuss people, Average minds discuss events, but Great minds discuss ideas.”

This is a good quote to live by. Not many people take the quotes that decorate English classroom walls seriously enough to see the truth in them.
