Yesterday my inbox was on fire. Everytime I checked my mail there was another phantom post trying to entice me into giving somebody my personal banking information. Of course you're thinking, everyone knows those are scams...right? Yeah, they know, they have to know. When you go to most banks now, signs are posting warning you about email scams that say someone has signed up to your bank account, your paypal, your ebay, or the biggie some sob story about a guy in Nigeria that needs to transport funds and will give you a cut.
If you know that its a scam why go for it? Greed. Yep, greed. Even though I knew better, I thought, years ago I might have been stupid enough to say, "I know I don't have a BankPlus account but obvously an account is in my name, which means I have money that I don't know about so I should send this stuff back. I mean I need the money right?" I even know people that were into the Nigerian scam. In the back of their mind, they knew it sounded fishy but still it was money and you could always use money. What if this was the one request that was true.
It's like those chain forwards that people send talking about Bill Gate's tracking device that will notify you so you can get paid for forwarding the thing. I got one the other day and the note said, "I think this one might actually work"
We're holding out hope for money because we think that if we get just a tiney morsel of it, it will make us better. It really won't. If half of these things were true and people we're getting money, half of the world's charities, soup kitchens and poverty stricken would see any of our new monetary blessings. But Gap, Chanel and Hummer would see it all.
Are American's greedy?

Oh I have gotten so many of this scams it ridicules the latest that came to me vie mail with an actual check and a promise of 95,000 if I chased the check and send them the money for winner fees the check is in my garbage now, but I went on line to see if I can find something out about it and there was a form and some people though it was for real I mean a lottery form the UK that has a bank account in FL real my a**.
It's getting ridiculous because like you said, a Brittish Lottery with a Florida mailing address but we want to believe soooooo bad.
Yes we are greedy bastards, MTV cribs and Enron has proven that.
Everyone is greedy, it's our nature
