In America today one of the greatest atrocities in history is occuring everyday. Abortion has taken more lives than the holocaust, Darfur and the atrocities committed in Algeria during the Hutu and Tutsi civil war, combined. It may seem that this is being written for purely religious reasons yet I assure you I am will give no theological argument within this blog. Theocracy is a matter of opinion and the affect a religious critic would have on a large aparatus of readers would be fruitless.
First I wish to show how even in our own legal system we constantly aknowledge that babies are alive even if they are not born just yet. Take for example the Scott Peterson case. Peterson was eventually convicted of first degree murder of his wife and then second degree murder for killing his unborn son. I mean it makes sense that it would be a double murder charge. Yet according to the government it is completely legal to kill your unborn child. So how can reason possilby dictate that a man can be charged with the "murder" of his "unborn child". Technically this phrase should not even exist. Reason now gives a different way of looking at the idea of abortion. The juries that judged this case, used a the reasoning that this child was going to be born. The fact that he was still in the womb when he lost his ability to live did not change the fact that if all had gone well he would have have been born.

The Scott Peterson case is something we discussed in a politics class of mine. It is a good point that Scott was charged with two murders, yet abortion is not considered a murder.
I'm not stating an opinion, I'm agreeing that there's an inconsistency with the rulings.
Laci Peterson was in the last month of her pregnancy; aborting a child at that point is illegal in 36 states, including California where the Peterson trial took place. If you find someone who was charged with double murder for killing a woman and unborn child in the first or second tri-mester you may have a valid point.
Abortion isn't murder. Tell me how ending the existance of 60 (parasitic, mind you) cells is murder.
As for the Peterson case: States draw different laws here. Was the woman in the second or third trimester? That question is very important: Before the second trimester, a blastocyte is a parasite that cannot survive outside the women's body. However, mid-second trimester and on is where the baby can sometimes be born early and still survive, however, they are generally very disadvantaged, hence why they aren't usually born that time. That's why Mr. Peterson was charged as he was, I would presume.

If a society is willing to give freedom for temporary security, they deserve neither.
It is more or less there is no way to stop abortions just like drugs and all. If they made it illegal, people would go to drastic steps to have a miscarriage. Some things I've heard were falling downstairs, hitting themselves, and even as far as using coat hangers.
It is more or less to make things safe. They will never stop abortion but they could have limitations against it.
