Myspace dot com, have you heard of it? Of course you have. Do you want to know why you've heard of it? Because everybody has it! and if you don't have a myspce profile, you have thought about getting one. Myspace must be one of the top 100 websites visited everyday not including porn sites, haha just kidding. Not only teens, but the ELDERS are getting profiles now as well. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that because myspace, in my opinion is a fun resource to have.
There have been numerous occasions where i have chatted with someone i have never met before, and ended up running into them at a party, the mall, or some food place. i know, i know if you think about it like that, it does sound somewhat......... NERDY! but i know that im not the only one that checks their myspace messages, friends requests, comments, and freinds list whenever thier bored. It gives me something to do. You might as well do something while you're doing nothing, **i got that line from Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite** Anyway, like i said, if you're not doing anything, why not go on myspace and make a new friend, but how far does that go?
I consider myspace nerdy when you friend request a whole bunch of people you don't know, and will never meet them in your life. Then you only have virtual friends, and THAT"S NOT FUN!!! That is when the webcams come in and you meet everyday online, and meet in chatrooms, and have long distance friendships/relationships online. Once you get to that point, guess what, YOU MIGHT WANT TO STOP USING MYSPACE, and maybe unplug your computer and go outside for a little bit. You know, give the virtual life a rest.
Anyways, in my opinion, myspace is alright. i think the best part about it is when you browse your friends, friendlist and you see a picture of someone you haven't seen since you were in grammaer school. It's cool when you talk to someone you haven't seen in a long time, and the first question you always ask them: "Nooooo way, you have a myspace too??!!" With all seriousness though, sometimes it can be addicting, but thats if you have no life like me, that's why i have time to write this blog. JUST KIDDING! How's your myspace life going?

I don't have a myspace, but I've been on myspace through friend's accounts and think it's a great way to network, find out about new bands, etc. What weirds me out is when that's ALL people do and talk about. Wouldn't you rather actually hang out with people, rather than just sending notes back and forth? I also think that Myspace promotes a really degraded version of human connection. In fact, do any of us even really TALK to each other anymore? Between posting something to a myspace page and text messaging over cell phones, we don't really have to speak to anyone, and yet, the paradox is that we are so much better "connected" with all the technology. Hmmmm, sounds fishy to me. In the end, myspace makes people write, and I like that part!
Yes, Mitra it's quite ironic that being apart from each other can actually bringing us closer..... thats modern technology for you!
Kristine JohnsonI think myspace is pretty cool, but it gets really boring after awhile. I only use it now to keep in touch with friends who are still stuck in high school.
My Space is really cool -- especially when you can really personalize your site. What I think sucks is how you can't really add audio -- just some music. What's more personal than letting people here your actual voice say something real.
WildVoice is a really cool podcasting site that makes it fun and easy to create a podcast -- and guess what? They made it easy to add this to MySpace. Check it out ...

I'd be really cool to hear more people speak out on WildVoice and MySpace ...
myspace can be a good resource to keep in touch with old friends and make new ones. i just recently found my friend's profile who i havent seen or talked to since 4th grade. now im talkin to him again through myspace. myspace can also be a bad thing if you're not careful. there are a buncha sickos out there in the world who can easily get on you profile, so just use discretion when puttin your info on there.
This topic really depends on how you use myspace. For instance, I only use myspace to keep in touch with my friends whom I don't see very often. I dont see there's any harm in that! It's also good to keep in touch and see what's going on with each other's lives. The problem with myspace is that, way too many people go all out and invite as many people as they can to get popularity. I guess you can't really control some of these high school kids from having the urge for attention. I mean seriously, even the best tools can be used for the wrong purpose.
I do like myspace. In fact, I have an account their also. It helps me keep in touch with my friends and such. However, it's starting to become a popularity contest where everyone needs to have a lot of friends. Then people start to search for people randomly...to "socialize". Especially the news that I heard about molesters online and everything. I'm not blaming myspace, but I think people should be extra careful when someone they don't know starts adding them.
i remember when i first heard about myspace i didn't know what the hell it was....i knew you could talk to friends through it but i never got the purpose. Then one night when I was sleeping over my friends house she decided to make a myspace for me. I was like sure whatever. I didn't care because I wanted to see what it was all about. After finding my friends on it I thought it was fun because I got to find friends that I hadn't seen since elementary school because I had moved to a different school district in the sixth grade. So for me myspace is all about connecting with old friends that you haven't seen or talked to in a long time and also a place to meet new friends. People say that people are vulnerable on this website because a person could be a total creep. But if you're smart you won't talk to anyone you don't know or don't accept them as a friend. Be safe on myspace. You can either be smart about it or be dumb....obviously be smart...
