I just makes me want to scream sometimes......the way that TV has today's girl supposedly pegged, what we should wear and how we should act and look like! Ok turn on any sitcom and u will see a skinny daughter w/ perfectly styled hair and makeup for a morning scene. First of all everyone knows about the overplayment of the whole obesity epidemic, so why make the over weight girls feel worse, when they can not even "see themselves" in everyday tv characters? The way TV, movies, and magz want us to look is absurd for anyday, everyday, usage. I like getting dressed up as much as the next girl for dances and a night out with the girls, but pressure does not help the fact that we are all not Hillary Duff, or Scarlett Johannson. Sometimes yes I give into the temptation of a new color of eyeshadow for a special occasion, but not because I seen it on a model in Cosmo, and my eyes are close to her color so "I have to buy it". Makeup, and every 6 week trip to get my roots rehighlighted just does not fit into my budget. I know their are girls who spend all of their paychecks on accessories, or new shoes or that new "gravity deifying" mascara that will make your lashes 3 feet long, so you can blink and nock the boys flat on theirs behinds. Really it is just not worth all of that work. My bf does not like me to wear too-much makeup, he says it looks silly sometimes, "all u need is the red nose and u could be a clown" then I would promptly give him a red nose then the discussion would be over. My point is that the media, TV could just give us alittle breathing room.

tv's do this because no one wants to see an ugly girl as the main character. people just need to realize tha tv doesn't have to set the standards, you can be how you want to, look how you want to. you shouldn't base your looks off of people on tv because tv wants people who look perfect. i don't think its offensive to the average girl. young girls really need to realize that tv isn't reality
