According to a report from CNN and Associated Press, a government report compiled from 2004 Census data, a college degree gains an added $23,000 per year over a high school diploma alone. The report also states that 85% of adults age 25 and older has a college degree, up from 80% in 2000 and from 50% in 1970.

College graduates averaged $51,554, high school grads $28,645, and high school drop-outs $19,169. The report also lists the average wage of an advanced college degree at $78,093. Although the gap between wage earners in high school and college grads has closed slightly, it still pays to get a degree!

I was wondering about that earlier today. What are all of going to do with our college degrees? But apparently there still is an advantage to receiving a higher education. Thanks for the encouragement! ;)
