Since this is my very first time blogging on progressiveu.org, it would only be polite and somewhat necessary for me to introduce myself. My name is Lynda and I am a first year student at
Texas
Christian
University. It's a small, private university in
Texas (hence the first word in the univeristy's name). If we zoom in a bit more, it's located in an exponentialy growing suburban city also known as
Fort Worth. As a
Fort
Worthian all my life, people have asked me why I didn't choose a college 2000 miles away, 500 miles away, or even 50 miles away. And the truth of the matter is, I wanted to. Really, really wanted to but being my typical self, I felt inclined to make a pro and con list of what it meant if I were to stay in Fort Worth and what it meant if I were to go to school in another city like the University of Texas at Austin which was my second choice. Throughout my senior year of high school and even during the summer when I felt that I had came to my final decision, there was still a bit of doubt that lingered inside me. I battled the urge to move away from home and found myself preferring the familiar streets and restaurants to the foreign hangouts and beyond-words-awful traffic
Austin is well known for. Was TCU the school for me or did I make in mistake in coming to a school that was only 15 minutes away from home?
