so I am going to school to become a massage therapist. I was working in school one day and My teacher was teaching us about the bad reputation that the massage industry has from back in the day. So later that day when I went to work I was talking to a coworker about massage and how school is when a guy came up to me and said" oh cool your a massage therapist thats so awesome " and I said no I am just a student but I can practice my massage on you if you would like. All you have to do is setup an appointment and he was like so all I have to do is make an appointment and you can touch me while I am naked right? I said no Imassage you fully draped. He said no thats not what I wanted. I wanteda massage naked that is what you are supposed to do. I said no you have it mixed up. He said no thats just what I have seen on tv.!!!!!!!!! Everyone us Massage therapists are well trained and we are professional! do not go only by the bad stuff you hear!

I believe you. Then again, people who believe everything they see on TV aren't exactly the sharpest crayons in the box, are they? Don't be offended by those people - it's not their fault they don't know any better.
I'm a theatre student - I know what it's like to have your profession not taken seriously. It sucks, but just look forward to when you get a job and people start to really appreciate what you do for them.
Not to laugh at your pain or proffession but i thought guys only hit on people like that on TV. You should have told him there was a better way to let you know you were liked;)

I know quite a few massage therapists and they are all very professional. It's a shame that our culture has equated such a healing thing as touch and has turned it into something purely sexual. Of course, there are sensual massages, but that's completely different than healing massage.
