A New Year, A New Chance
Every year people across the world (who celebrate our calendar year) are sitting down to analyze this last year as it comes to an end and seriously consider what improvements can be made for a better life. Here is my list...
BEFORE DECEMBER 31, 2008...
Career/School
#1 I pledge to take at least one class each semester in a subject that I am not skilled in that will be useful in my life. Ex. Dance, Piano, Technical Design, etc...
#2 I pledge to volunteer more time than required to help the department with strikes and/or other projects.
#3 By March 2008 I will collect/purchase the necessities for my stage management kit including office, first aid, and stage supplies.
#4 I will begin again with expanding my knowledge of the theatre and stage by reading one script a week and reading at least one book on the subject of acting/stagecraft/costuming/etc per month. Textbooks and scripts for class count toward this goal.
#5 I will work to raise my GPA to 3.9 (currently 3.858).
Friends & Family
#1 If my schedule has no conflict, I pledge to support my friends in all of their achievements. If my presence is requested at a show or other event by a good friend, I will cheer them on at the event.
#2 I will call my parents once a week to chat for no other reason than for them to know how things are going in my world.
#3 Whenever I come home, I will get my parents to try at least one new vegetarian dish.
Travel & Entertainment
#1 I will go to Chicago. Currently the trip is planned for Spring Break with a friend. I already bought the Frodor's Guide so even if the trip falls through for Spring Break I can promise you before this year is out I will have seen the Windy City in all its glory.
#2 I will go see a live concert (either local band or big venue).
#3 Once I turn 21:
a. I will order one new drink each time I go out to dinner to expand my horizons and explore a variety of options.
b. I will begin planning a trip to Las Vegas with the women in my family that may or may not occur in December.
c. I will enhance my skills with Texas Hold'em before the fateful birthday so that I may enter a live tournament after such date and kick some ass.
#4 I will go see Cloverfield because the trailer at Sweeny Todd was freaking fantasmic.
#5 I will put aside enough money to get the entire 7 book Harry Potter series in the box set (hopefully coming out in paperback soon) and read the entire series straight through.

I wanna go to NYC with a friend. I'm hoping it'll be over spring break, but that might not happen.
I'm going to apply to a minimum of 5 summer research/internship positions and hope for the best.
I'm going to study like crazy for my ASL class so I can actually have it as a useful skill (and maybe convince my cousin to talk to me).
[If I get into medical school] I'm going to take an elective I wouldn't normally take.

Holy crap.
I don't have resolutions. Or goals. Or anything like that.
I mean, I have my plans, but wow.
I've never seen such organized resolutions in my life.

What can I say? I have my anal retentive side that occasionally feels the need to pop out and say "When do we file the tax return?" It can be sad how excited I can get over the act of organizing and list making.
Think about it...
