Allright, so a few years ago, TMISS results came out which compared math scores of students across the globe of twenty-nine industrialized nations and the U.S. scored a disappointing 15th. We're below countries such as the Netherlands, Korea, and Japan. Didn't we once occupy Korea? How can we be performing below their students. The U.S. actually spends more than these countries on education yet is not seeing results.
One hypothesis is just that American students are just plain less intelligent than the students of other countries. That's a lie because intelligence tests show that American students have equal intelligence. Also, even if international students had higher intelligence, studies have shown that educatio can greatly make up for theses differences.
I think the problem is not that we don't have enough funding for schools and that we should provide more. I think the problem is with how we're spending the money. I believe that teachers should get higher salaries. When compared to other salaries, teachers wages have actually decreased therefore many qualified would-be teachers seek jobs in other occupations so that they will have a higher standard of living.
I think American school performance is something that needs to be addressed because it is education that keeps our economy running. If our education continues to lag behind other countries, I believe our economy will soon face a major recession.

Yeah a lot has to do with parent and schools. Is not that americans are less dumm is that most of our school and not taken care off and students are not being given the proper education that they need. For example, i live in south central los angeles california and when i was going to high scholl from 1999-2003 i noticed that most of our school where over crowded and that out books were old even the seats were we where sitting in where old. Sometimes we didint have enough supplies like i used to be in the cross country team and we had to basically raised money for our uniforms and if there wasent enought we had to wear the old uniforms with holes in them. i think that is lack of motivism and interest to the future of this country..
What does that have to do with anything? Does occupying a country suddenly make the citizens less intelligent?
Koreans and Japanese are higher scorers because our cultures emphasize study and good learning. There are more consequences than in American culture, that allows you to succeed even at minimum. Also, there's a lot of pride in the matter of how well you succeed.
Money is a part of the problem... but not as much as the way Americans think about schooling.
