Who: Me and my senior class (some Juniors because they just don't care.
What: Senior Skip Day
Where: Cocoa Beach
When: April 14th
Why: Last day for our senior class to be together and have fun at the beach.
The Plan
Okay so the Administrators are gonna try and pull a quick one on us. I think it was about last Monday when 99.9% of seniors in my school (Osceola High) got a text message saying when senior skip day was and where it was at. Sometime Wednesday we all get a text message saying to meet up at Wal-Mart on Monday at 9AM to hit the road because not everyone knows how to get there.
The Problem
Our administrators are trying to stop us from going. Like it's some kind of war or something. I told my 3rd period teacher I wasn't coming to school that Monday because of senior skip day and she was like "Okay but be careful." I know your probably like your teacher is nuts BUT I havent missed a day all school year and every teacher knows whats going on. Accordint to my favorite teacher Ms. Edge, she said that the assistant principal sent out E-Mails to all the teachers saying when senior skip day was and that a lot of the students wouldn't be in school.
The Shocker!!
Along with that E-Mail the assistant principal was saying that the administrators were going to make all the students who have an unexcused absence on Monday April 14th will NOt be able to go to the graduation ceremony. I think thats funny.
Conclusion...I think...
Well if I'm right...about 99% of the seniors at my school WILL be skipping on Monday and they have to make us walk or they just wasted thousands of dollars for are graduation at Arabian Nights. Meaning that only 1% of the students will be attending the graduation ceremony.....I think not...SO...I will be returning to school TUESDAY APRIL 15TH!!!!!

I might be able to top you.
About a month ago we had a senior assembly in the auditorium, where our principal told us that whenever there is a senior skip day, someone invariably dies.
Of course, he threatened us with canceling prom, graduation, senior trip, etc., but the big one was "Someone always dies."
I have lived in this community since I was about 3 years old, and the only student deaths I recall was 1) Someone attempted a backflip at prom a few years ago, and 2) about eight students attempted to get inside a two person kayak, and two of them drowned.
...Fear mongering, much?
thats..uh..just a little creepy. lol.
i'm really curious to hear about the outcome.
If you do ditch just get an excused absence saying you were sick.
Well where I live your parents have to call in say you were sick but when you come back you have to have a doctors note...u no a REAL one...

A doctor's note just to call in sick? I understand cpllege professors wanting notes if you skip an exam, but in high school? That's a little ridiculous. Everyone doesn't go to the doctor for every ailment that they would stay home for. Parents calling in should be good enough. That's sad that it isn't.
Our senior skip day the principal told us the same thing--we wouldn't be graduating. Unfortunately she was somewhat fearsome to behold, and everyone took her seriously because she scared the shit out of us. And we didn't get our skip day.
But after each AP exam was over, the guidance councelor told us that the exam was plenty school enough and she wasn't going to mark anyone absent if they happened to not show up to the rest of their classes. That was pretty nifty.

Well, our administrators didn't threaten us, but our tiny calculus teacher did, so I got into a car accident that morning (small one, no damages), and my entire class (which consisted of all seniors except two exchange students) was there when I arrived.
Pretty sure my biology class was full that day too... too many people scared of failing the IB exam, I guess.
But my senior skip day came the day after I finished all my AP/IB exams. After almost two straight weeks of tests (starting on one Tuesday, going through Thursday, with my biology final on Friday, then starting the next Monday and going til Thursday again, some days with morning and afternoon exams), I was so burnt out I told all my teachers that I wasn't coming in. Since we finished all our work before the IB/AP exam, and it was the last day of class for seniors, none of them really cared.

I didn't get to participate in Sr. Skip Day. I only had one class (and at my school classes meet every other day), and Sr. Skip Day fell on the day I didn't have class.
How boring.
