Creationsim & Evolution

Tagged:  •

There are two big ideas when it comes to discussing our origins and the origin of the earth.

Either it came from nothing or it came from someone.  Either this planet and all of it's life forms have evolved into what we have today, or all of it was designed.

Evolution is what is taught in schools.  A lot of times it is taught and implied to be a fact when it is not.  We cannot prove evolution and we cannot prove creation.

The question is, Why is evolution the only thing that is taught in public schools?  Why not teach both and let the students decide which of the "theories" are true.

I have to admit that I am a bit biased on this issue because I am a christian and I wholeheartedly believe in creation.  I am too complex a being to have evolved.  That is my personal view.  I believe everyone should have a choice in the matter so let's make it fair.  Bring the ideas of both creation and evolution before students and let them decide.

I think it should not be taught in school at all. Since it a matter of opinion, the parents should be teaching this subject to thier kids, not the school. It is such a big point of controversy that schools that are not affiliated with a religion should not teach it. It would be like teaching about abortion or something, it just is not a good idea.

It really doesn't matter what we think because the Supreme Court has already ruled on this. They have said that creationism cannot be taught in schools, and until we can give them solid constitutional reasoning to say otherwise, that is how things will stay.

P.S. If anyone cares for specifics, just tell me.

You can read Genesis 500 times and you still do not know how God did it. What makes you think it might not have been a big bang, followed by a little evolution? There ARE a few steps left out of the story.

The reason that creation is not taught in government schools, is that it is a religious tradition. I think you could teach it in private school. If you wish to have a religious teaching in public school you have to provide equal time to other religions as well.

Evolution is a theory. It is the theory that fits all of the objective evidence the best. Therefore it is taught. If any credible alternate theories appear they will either be taught along side it, or replace it.

A fact is always better than an ideal
