VA Plans to Extent Anti-Abuse Program

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

My Summary:
“Stop It Now!” is a campaign for anti-abuse to children. This program was started in Richmond in 2005 and has since spread throughout Virginia. It offers a hotline to adults who suspect child abuse. Also, anyone who feels they are wanting or desire to physically or sexually abuse a child can call the hotline to just get help/advice. Seventy one percent of adults sexual abuse a child says the health department. That percentage is way to high. Stop It Now! Wants people to be on the look out for suspicious adults.

...It's terrible that children, innocent children are being (sexually) abused. There is no reason in the world to physically/mentally hurt a child. What could one do to ever deserve such a thing? I can think of nothing. The scary part is that the people who doing the abusing know the child.

This is one of my articles from my 2007 summer assignment for my AP Government class. Which can be made into discussions :)

I think that number of 71% is way too high for how many people sexually abuse a child. Maybe that is how many people abuse a child in some way, but I can't see it being abusing a child sexually. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see how that statistic could be possible or how they could even possibly come up with that.

It's not just for sexual abuse it's also including ANY other kinds of abuse as well. I just used that as an example in my thought on it.

Sorry just going off of what you said.... that's still ridiculous though.
