High School

High school is so confusing. You have to hop a bus, find your locker in the masses of students, fumble to get your locker open, acquire books, go to class, if you can find it, with all the confusing room number. Unfortunately, I didn't experience that. I am from a small village that only has about 300 students total, K-12. I'm just glad that I didn't have to experience the above. The teachers here know more about you then the teachers outside (lower 48). You have more friends, everybody knows everybody. But when you first come here, you have to prove to yourself and others that you are acceptable to the school.

Anyways, I can't wait until I graduate. And go to someplace, like AVTEC (Alaska Vocational Technical School. It isn't like college at all, you have more experience in which you are going to be taught, the way that I picture college would be a huge place to navigate, you have to know where your rooms are, meet your professors or teachers? I don't know, then you ahve to buy you books, have to write papers of I don't know what you write about. Then you have to like find a place to live, then you have to commute back and forth between where you live, and the school you are going to.

I think it's just easier to go to a technical school, and get the skills that you need, not just a certificate or a degree, and then find a job, I think that AVTEC finds a job for you, I think it's called job placement.

Interesting. I understand what you're saying about going to a small teachers and the teachers all knowing you. My school's small, I like it though. And then college, for me will be a transition. A small, private school to a state school, huge difference, but a good difference. These things are tough, but you get through them and then you have to get a job. Which will probably be the hardest step of everything, because school is school, you learn what you need and you go, a job, you're there for hopefully, all your life, until retirement at least, It's the stages of life though and they all work out, even if they are difficult at times.

I don't know, I feel like going to college and having to go through obstacles is a huge learning experience in life. Sheltering yourself by going to a vocational school may not be the most experience filled choice, but it is your choice. I think that a regular college is great, especially a community college. I go to a state school and a community college, and I love both. I know all my teachers, I didn't get lost because I looked at a map, I bought used books, and if I have an essay I set up a meeting with my teacher for extra help if I need it. I think you should look at all your options before you are totally sold on AVTEC.

Après la pluie le beau temps.

Wow that's way different than how I grew up. I live in a huge city where there are thousands of students just at my high school alone.

interesting.... I like that you are taking a different route than most people. And I hope you recieve the experience that you are looking for!

personally, I think high school just needs to be a part of life! It's not like we could get to high school without the other steps first, like we can't just start walking without crawling. Yes, I agree that high school is confusing, and for me, it's full of unnecessary drama. That's what makes it high school! It gets us ready for the college experience and allows us to have great opportunities....or chances to fall flat on our face (metaphorically and literally speaking). yeah, some parts of high school stink, but it's just a phase that we all need to go through. some of us just experience it differently than others- actually every single person's experience will be different than some one elses', just like their lives. Interesting.
Smile! It makes each day brighter! :)
