Currently, my friends are talking about creating a book about one of their lives. They plan on writing a book based on (*Sally's*) family conflicts, her sexual orientation, being sexual active at the age of 14, being with guys up to the age of 17 years older than her, being with married men and married women, and learning sexual acts with other individuals at the age of 7 years old (from her cousin I might add).
*Sally* is currently 17 now and she is a responsible teenager. Even though Sally has faced obstacles in her life. In her life she has been ridiculed, been incarcerated, and her father walked out of her life.
Personally, I think my friend would have a great story to tell, just about her life. I do not know if people would be interested in her life and her story, but I would. So, I would like to know if anyone would be interested in reading her book and why?
*Sally* is interested in getting help from my friend *Ricardo* and he is going to help her write her book. However, they have to work out the kinks to writing a book and editing it. They just need a response to see if anyone would be interested in reading a book like this if they write it.

Yes, I most likely would read that book. 1) I love to read and 2) It sounds like she has an amazing story to tell and I believe that we can learn a lot from the experiences of those around us. I wish her a lot of luck with it.
I would like to read it, it sounds interesting to know what she went through and how she was able to go through it and be the person she is today, I for one look forward to it.

I would read her book because I like to read about other people's lives. It sounds interesting and I believe people that have been through alot should tell their stories to everyone.
Thank you for being supportive of my friend. I have informed her of all of your comments. She also would like to thank you too!
Sounds like she has some thing in common with me - I, too, was taken advantage of by much older men from the time I was 15, and I was molested when I was 9. I've been keeping a journal since I was thirteen and am getting college credit for writing about my experiences. I'm hoping on publishing an autobiography of my childhood, based off my journal. Her experiences sound quite interesting. I'd be happy to help her and to critique her writing, I have a lot of experience with that - PM me if you think she'd be interested and I'll give you my contact info.
As far as suggestions... what connection does Ricardo have to Sally? Is he a central figure in her life who will be in her book? If not, I'm assuming he'll be doing most of the writing while Sally tells him her story? I think a narrative-based style is best - it's most interesting when the events are told as if they happened yesterday, not "Ten years ago, such and such happened." Showing the events rather than telling them makes for better writing. I'd recommend going through the traditional publishing industry, NOT self-publishing. There's a LOT of competition though, so the book has to have highly polished, very good writing. They also might want to consider getting an agent to try and sell their book to publishing companies (agents usually take a percentage of what the publishers pay... the author usually gets a royalty, or a percentage of the sales, like 15%. There's quite a few books about getting books published, and books with hundreds of pages of publishing companies to choose from (based on genre, intended audience, type of company, etc). They should also do a LOT of work on the internet to gain exposure for their book.
Let me know if you/they have any more questions!
Ok, thank you. I would ask if she is interested and get back to you. P.S. Sally did not want me to post her actual name on here, so I named her Sally. She was afraid people would judge her negatively. I am sure she will feel comfortable enough to know that someone can relate to her story.
I love those kinds of stories. Ones like those are the most interesting, in my opinoin. I know quite a few girls whos stories were similar to *Sally's* and they are always being so judged. I've even heard teachers talk about these girls before. It's a shame because they are, too, responsible young ladies and just because of what they do in their private lives they shouldn't be mistreated. I would enjoy reading your friend's book.(because I love to read too :] )
Thanks for understanding my friend's perspective.
