So here's the deal.
Illegal Immigration:Â Our Nation was built on immigrants.... we welcomed immigrants, "Give us your poor, give us your hungry, your weak"... We said America stood for freedom, we encouraged people to come and pursue the American dream, and yet right now we have made the American dream very hard to attain....We have built a wall, and have placed men with automatic weapons at our borders to keep illegal immigrants from coming into the country...
People have said they make our economy poor. You are ignorant. Without them our economy would be poor. People have said they steal our jobs. No, they take the jobs that no one else will take and they get paid very little, just barely more than what they would have made in Mexico.
"They don't pay taxes"...because we do not allow them to! They need socials, and they can't pay for insurance because of the same reason. They are ILLEGAL, if they try to do anything, they will get deported.
"well why don't they become citizens legally?" because their government is corrupt....they could pay so much to get their visas or green cards, and the money could just "disappear" and then they do it again, and again, and again....plus just to get a visa or green card takes years.. Life is short, people need to live. They need to take care of family's, they need to pursue their dreams.
As for the weapons and restrictions of use of the weapons given to border control/minute men i heard this reply " well we can still give them weapons, but there will be strict rules and they will be punished if they used it when they weren't supposed to..
..it doesn't really matter at that point does it! A person or two could already be dead! people have already died!
People say that their taxes are going to pay for dying or sick immigrants, and that makes them mad.....well you know what, while i might not be paying taxes right now, i would not mind knowing that my tax money is going to saving someone esles life.
Knowing that a lot of this country's money is going to entertainment : celebrities, football players, hockey players, basketball, baseball and such, and porn stars.....and also knowing that teachers are getting paid not even close to that is mind blowing...aggravating...and sickening.
Mind you, teachers are teaching the future generations, our children, the future presidents and leaders of this country.
Also....when in government class when we were actually debating this subject, a person was angry and said that Illegal Immigration was not a racial or stereotypical subject... I laughed...I asked the class how many people thought of anyone else but mexicans....while the board said Illegal Immigration, it could have referred to anything....but we live in Arizona...so everyone immediatley thought of Mexicans.
Of course this has become a racial and stereotypical issue! people generalize, they stereotype, it is ignorant people that have made it into such.
Closing statement for this issue : The earth was here long before us...and the fact that we people are claiming bits and peices of it and deciding who can go where and who can't is wrong. Every human being has the natural right to go anywhere on this earth. The earth isn't for us to divide and conquer and keep others out, the fact that we have done so and continue to do so is our own weakness and stupidity as human beings. Either way, there should be NO BORDERS! NO COUNTRIES! the fact that we can't all live together and share the earth is quite sad and pitiful.
Also...for you governments.......you have NO SAY in same sex relationships. It is a person's natural right, and you need to keep your dirty noses out of it..this isnt a question of religion or politics..its love , its nature so back the fuck off and quit giving these people a hard time.
People who are going to quote the bible, to go against "gays" need to open their own eyes because they are ignorant.....the bible was man made.,.....a few times over in fact.... at one point is was put in the bible that women should submit to men.... what kind of bible is that...what kind of reference is that. none.
to refer to any document written by people, isn't the best reference, because people are people, and they grow and learn all through life.....the men who wrote the declaration of independence, constitution....slave owners.....they actually believed that they were superior over others.
Give me a break....wake up!

I believe this immigration issue isn't a matter of how many illegal immigrants are coming over here, it's the weakness of our LEGAL immigration. And sadly, no politicians have touched on the subject on how to fix legal immigration and make it faster and more efficient so that undocumented illegal immigrants feel it is more advantageous to sneak across the border than apply for a green card (I believe Ron Paul talked about this though, but then again, it's Ron Paul, he's awesome).
I completely agree. Except for the part about Ron Paul. I don't like him.
Our current immigration system sucks. We need to improve the application and screening process and give more people the opportunity to come here legally and safely.
There was a time when immigration was good for America. That was before we moved to a socialist form of government and when we were trying to settle a vast mostly empty frontier.
But times change. We are the most powerful country in the world with our current population we don't need to further spoil our environment or congest our already teaming cities or further balkinize our society with more people. And we particularly don't need more poor ignorant people who on average consume more from the treasury then they contribute.
Instead, we should completely end illegal immigration and adopt a legal immigration policy aimed at stabilizing our population. Since our native fertility rate is almost exactly at replacement level our immigration policy should also be at the replacement level. About 200,000 Americans emigrate annually so that is how many we should allow to immigrate.
Here is a good movie that everybody should watch because demographics is destiny.

Most of this blog is the ramblings of somebody that forgets that the USA is a Constitutional Republic with government by the people for the people. Essentially our system allows for rule by the majority with the rights of the minority protected by the Constitution.
There is no Constitutional right to immigrate so basically our immigration policy should correctly reflect the WILL OF THE MAJORITY of citizens.
The American people overwhelmingly want our immigration laws enforced and illegal immigration stopped. While most Americans believe immigration is positive for America, the polls also show that a substantial and growing majority want immigration numbers reduced. The two positions are consistent.
The earth is nature, it belongs to no one and everyone at the same time. the fact that we actually have any say as to who can go where is wrong. It shouldn't be in a persons power to deny others something that is in fact their natural/personal right.
Good luck convincing the American people of that.
Until you do, we will continue to have borders and our people are getting ever more insistent that they be respected.
But I think we should test your theory. The earth is teaming with people that are dramatically worse off than Mexicans and to many of them, Mexico would look awfully good as a destination for immigration.
When Mexico throws open the immigration flood gates, then they will be able to speak to us with some moral authority. I'm not certain that we would capitulate but then it would at least be worth listening.
Actually, the reason why our population has had a steady growth was because of immigration. Without it, our population would actually be at a standstill. This whole argument on immigration gives me a very deja vu feeling.
Haven't we debated this issue with the Irish? The Germans? The Scandinavians? The Puerto Ricans? The Cubans? The Chinese? The Japanese? (not with the Vietnamese, we felt too guilty over the Vietnam War to refuse or debate on them). What I don't understand is how were these immigration groups any different from the immigration wave we see today?
Of course immigration has driven our population growth. But it has not been entirely responsible for it. The Baby Boom was responible for a great deal of growth too. But in about the 1970's American families made the responsible choice to limit their explosive population growth and with birth control and sadly abortion, they brought their fertility rate down to replacement levels. Having our population stabilized (or at a standstill as you put it) would be a good thing and that is what the American people chose with their own reproductive behavior.
Clearly at one point in our history it made a lot of sense to grow our population. We had a vast empty (except for a very sparse population of native Americans) frontier that we needed people to settle. During that period we also had laws like the Homestead Act which gave free land to people who were willing to settle the frontier and develop it.
But times change. The Homestead Act ended in the 1920's because America was settled and there was no more land to give away. At about the same time, Congress passed laws that sharply limited immigration and these laws were in effect until 1965. This hiatus from massive immigration, along with the Depression and a World War were what finally allowed the melting pot to finally work.
For me, it is mainly about the numbers. I think America is full now. At current levels of legal immigration (not even counting illegal immigration) we are on track for an unavoidable demographic destiny of about 450 million people by 2050 (50% growth in 40 years) and almost a billion by 2100. When will you concede that America is full and that it has reached its maximum sustainable carrying capacity? Would 2 billion people be enough for you because if we triple our population to 1 billion in the next 93 years that will be the next stop. I plan to fight vigorously to ensure that people like you don't inflict India/China like population problems on my grand children.
I'm not sure if you noticed but the City of Atlanta Georgia is down to something like a 60 day water supply for its vast population due to drought. That is really frightening and it is hard to imagine that problem in the Southeast where water seems abundant. How many MORE people should be allowed to settle in Georgia? It is easy to imagine massive water shortages happening in the entire West and desert Southwest. Why would we keep packing ever more people into these areas?
But if you want to make it an ethnic issue and pretend that I am arguing about races/ethnicities rather than numbers, you should probably get some facts and decide if all races/ethnicities do equally well when they get to America. Here is a place to start:
http://www.ppic.org/content/pubs/cacounts/CC_505KRCC.pdf
Take a look at the charts on pages 10, 11 and 12. Apparently not all ethnicities/races are assimilating equally well. But these things would not even matter if we got the immigration numbers down to the point where they should be to achieve a stable population. The fact that some races/ethnicities thrive while others cause social problems and expand poverty would be a trivial issue because there just would not be that many of them. We should stop illegal immigration and limit legal immigration to about 200,000 per year which is the number who emigrate from the USA every year.
China and India do not have a large population in the billions because of immigration.
The thing with the whole population issue is that the population of America is not spread out evenly; we mostly migrate to various large cities. In the plains of America, there's basically nothing out there. And in this I don't see why we can't build an industry that is concentrated in the plains area.
And I know not all races do equally well in America, but it's not a race thing, it's a class issue. The reason why Asians, such as the Vietnamese, Koreans, Chinese, Japanese, Indians, etc do so well is that America attracts all the upper class citizens of those countries (after the Vietnam War, the only people that were able to afford to migrate here were the upper and middle class). Whereas countries like Mexico and Puerto Rico attract the poorest of those countries coming to America. The same is with Cuba, as when in the 1950s when Castro took over, all the upper class Cubans migrated to Cuba, and Cubans usually do much better financially.
Overpopulation is a world problem, not just an American one, and I think there needs to be a more long-term solution to it than just adjusting our immigration. Of course, I don't know the solution to this because it's not really what I'm interested in, but this is as far as I've gotten...
I live in Wyoming which is the least populated state. Yes it is very empty. We have more antelope than people. Incidentally, much of China looks the same way. Most of us live here because WE LIKE IT THAT WAY! But while there is lots of land, that is not the constraining factor on growth. Most of our small communities are already wondering how they are going to provide water to accomodate the modest growth we are experiencing as people flee California to escape the taxes that result from the mass importation of poverty.
There is actually lots of water in Wyoming on the Western side of the Continental divide. I suppose we could use this water but these are headwaters for the Colorado and Green Rivers. If we use this water to accomodate the growth you are suggesting, there are going to be some thirsty people in California, Arizona and Nevada.
Further East in the grain belt states lots of water comes from wells into acquifers like the Ogalla Sioux Acquifer. This is the largest fresh water acquifer in America. This resource is already being exploited at an unsustainable rate with water being taken faster than the acquifer recharges with a resulting annual drop in the water table. Are you suggesting further exploiting this resource? Most of this water is being used for farming and particularly for corn. If we divert the water from farming to people we damage our energy supply. Ever hear of ethanol?
What is the benefit of all this immigration driven population growth? It sounds like you are talking about filling up empty space just because it is there. It sounds like junk growth to me. Taxes are almost always higher in urbanized areas. Pollution is definately worse in urbanized areas. Crime is always worse in urbanized areas. Schools are almost always worse in urbanized areas. Every problem gets harder to solve as we add people. What is the benefit of mass imigration? How does it make life better for our citizenry?
Ignorant people do need to open their eyes. But the government does listen to the people. The government listens to those ignorant people more. lol
I know that people want to have borders around America because illegal immigrants are taking over the country. Most American citizens are still racists, if you haven't noticed. What would happen if illegal immigrants multiply more than our average citizens? I'm not taking side or anything, but it's definitely something you should think about.
As for homosexuality, they don't want to talk or hear about it. It's something that is still new to them even though we have been debating on gay marriage for quite a while. Let's wait for a generation or two to come and take over. By that time, hopefully homosexuality will be something people cherish rather than fear.
