Dear Campus Cyclist,
I know during the school year, it can be very crowded and sharing
the pavement/roads with cars and pedestrians can have its
challenges but I do ask you to be mindful of others. Here's
some suggestions hope you will think about taking into
consideration:
DO NOT
- ride in the middle of the sidewalk
- ride extremely fast on the sidewalk when there are many pedestrians
- run me over
- ride in pairs of two, or any other number greater than one (riding in a
horizontal formation) doing this you'll block the sidewalk preventing
others to go through
- talk on the cell phone an ride your bike (you have the tendency to swerve
and I'd like not to end up in the hospital cause you couldn't keep your damn bike straight)
- bring your bike inside of classroom buildings (they have bike racks for a reason)
And Please Remember...
- they have bike lanes for a reason
- an angry pedestrian could knock you off your bike if riding slow enough
Thank you for reading this, not most progressive but nonetheless most important.
Your Friend,

Let's add if you decide to ride on the road, like not in the city where there aren't bike lanes, DO NOT RIDE DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANE, especially on hills, cars have to drive there too and if another car is coming they don't have the option of going into the other lane.
I agree with the side walk thing too.
Bikes are street legal in most places, so a cyclist has every right to ride down the middle of the lane. Just like any other vehicle, you simply have to wait for a safe opportunity to pass.

This is true, in my state at least. But I always respect traffic. First, cars are bigger than me, and just as in driving, it is important to ride defensively. Also, I think of when I'm driving. I give cyclists a good amount of respect on the road, but in tricky situations I appreciate it when they give cars space...sometimes its just really hard to see them. On the other hand, cars need to be cautious too...according to the law, a car is expected to follow a cyclist just like it would any other vehicle. Cooperation is the key I think.

Doooooo it...
One thing I think is important for bicyclists to remember:
You are smaller and more manuverable than cars.
You can stop faster than a car.
Be aware of where a car's blindspots are and if you are in it.
