parent sue planned parenthood over failure to inform parent about daugther abortion

I remember hearing a story on the radio a year ago about the parents of a 16 years old girl who sued Planned Parenthood because they didn't inform them about their daughter abortion.

Planned Parenthood said that the reason why they didn't inform the parents was because the father of the fetus that was aborted went with her and said that he was her older brother, and the father was 21 years old.

I think the lawsuit failed or something, but than the parents came with another lawsuit where they wanted to see the medical history of the other clients who had abortion, and if planned parenthood had a history of not telling the parents.

whether or not you agree with the parent lawsuit of going after clients that have abortion to chip away at planned parenthood, what i want to know is about the parents relationship with their daughter, here are some of my thought.

1. what was a 16 years old girl doing dating a 21 year old man?

2. didn't her parents knew that their 16 year old daughter was dating a 21 years old man

3. why was their daughter so naive about contraceptive, or was she preach abstinence only until marriage and not inform about contraceptives?

4. why was the daughter so scared about telling her parents about her pregnancy that she seek an abortion instead of coming to them.

5. what kind of parents would make their daughter so afraid of coming to them about her pregnancy.

6. did her parent ever talk to her about safe sex or did they just preach abstinence only.

7. after their daughter had an abortion, did they realize that their daughter just been statutory rape by an adult, i think there is a law a said that the age of consent is 16 depending on the states that one lives, but it still is consider rape.

8. why did the parent choose to go after planned parenthood instead of the man that statutory raped their daughter, do they not realize that their daughter was statutorily raped by her 21 year old boyfriend, he should be in jail.

9. why aren't the family in therapy to talk about their daughter statutory rape.

10. why didn't the parents love their daughter more, i believe that if they really good parents and talk to their daughter about safe sex, their daughter wouldn't be in the position she was in, and not only that if the love was strong enough between the daughter and the parents, she would have told them about her pregnancy before the abortion.

11. one do not need a law require a minor to tell their parents about getting an abortion if their is love strong enough between the parents and the child, no law should legislate parenting skill, it is up to the parents to personally responsibility to love their child to a degree that their child would felt comfortable enough to inform their parents about life challenging crisis, and no law would ever change that.

12. it's not the government role to enforce by law what the churches can't deliver by faith or to replace churches as the primary moral agents fo society.

13. why do parent felt that they need law to tell them about their child getting an abortion instead of loving and communicating with their child to a degree that the child would felt love enough to tell them about their pregnancy.

14. and here was what a governor Cumeo who was going to be excommunicated for his support for woman right to their own body, he found out that catholic have abortion just about as much as protestant and non protestant a like, "despite the teaching in our homes and school, and pulpits, despite the pleading or parents and priests and prelates, despite all the efforts at defining our opposition to the sin of abortion, collectively we catholic believe and perhaps act little differently from those who don't share our commitment. are we asking our government to make criminal what we believe to be sinful because we ourselves can't stop committing the sin".

15. for the young girl who was statutory rape by her boyfriend and was not charge with a crime, why is that?

16. why are parents asking government to enforce laws that they themselves fail to do in their own households?

I have edited to correct spelling. You would do far better in terms of how well other ProU user's respond to you if you were to run a spelling and grammar check prior to posting here. Many users refuse to read blog postings with numerous spelling and grammatical mistakes.

On another note; I totally disagree with a few of the points you made that I can understand. For instance:

"5. what kind of parents would make their daughter so afraid of coming to them about her pregnancy, and went behind their."

"10. why didn't the parents love their daughter more, i believe that if they really good parents and talk to their daughter about safe sex, their daughter wouldn't be in the position she was in, and not only that if the love was strong enough between the daughter and the parents, she would have told them about her pregnancy before the abortion."

To assume that this has something to do with the parents not loving their child enough or the child not loving her parents enough, or being terrified of her parents, comes across as rather ludicrous and very presumptuous to me. You can love your child dearly and simply not be good or effective at communicating about the things that really matter (safe sex). Likewise, the daughter might have not told her parents simply because she didn't want them to be disappointed in her. We don't know the circumstances surrounding her decision to have an abortion and not inform her parents, so why waste time speculating about the love or lack thereof in their relationship?

What is far more interesting to me is why the parents think they have a right to privileged medical information about other patients.

thank you for the correction et al.

I think that the parents were just scared and had no clue what to do. I mean if my child told me that I would be so freaked out that I would have no clue what to do. But who to say that they not only got the planparent hood but also the boyfriend. This is a crazy thing thou. It makes you think what the world is coming to now.
