I know most women want to have an equal voice, but I think that using a candidate's gender to raise them up, but then using the feminine nature associated with that gender against them, like Sarah Palin, is an example of a hypocritical standard we have for woman. Obviously both sides of the campaign strategically wanted gender or race to be a booster (Hilary Clinton), but the fact that Sarah Palin reflects a raw feminine character as opposed to the career woman who has to dress and talk more like a man, should not be used against her to make her seem incompetent, which is what I gather the media and everyone seems to be aiming for ( a typical stereotype for the pretty woman, or any woman ).
This isn’t about being male or female: this is about being true to your nature.
This has nothing to do with any republican or democratic campaign views because that isn’t at all in any way what I am referring to here.
This is NOT about me being liberal or conservative: it is about us STILL not being fair to woman.
What does it matter? Well, if I have to dress, talk and walk like a man to be taken seriously and be treated equally, then as the woman that I truly am, I am still not being treated equally as a PERSON, because I am forced to give up my nature, or constanly fighting to keep it, down to my raw DNA. That is VERY unfair.
I shouldn’t have to be ugly, cut my hair short and talk emotionless to be considered effective and competent if the outcome of my work and policy is intelligent and works well (the only difference is that it is done with a different, more feminine style that accurately reflects who I am).
To me, Sarah Palin is almost an ideal woman, she is extremely intelligent, as she has done a great job in her own state. I don’t mind if people disagree but to hate Sarah Palin and give reasons like “because she is dumb” like so many people I run into isn’t being objective: it is buying into propaganda and special interest media who are playing on sexism. Many people are doing that and I think it is wrong, concerning how disrespected she is. Even Hilary spoke out against it, concerning Sara Palin! Besides, Sarah had only had 2 months notice, opposed to Hilary's, McCain's and Obama's 5 years (for a low estimate) of planning/training/acting for presidential speeches.

This reflects my thoughts nearly perfectly. Thank you.

This is NOT about me being liberal or conservative: it is about us STILL not being fair to woman.
Are you sure this is not about being liberal or conservative?
Who is this "us" to whom you are referring?
It seems to me that conservatives are very willing to accept Sara Palin as a femine but competent woman worhty of respect and the vice-presidency. She has received hero status partly for these qualities and also because she can field dress a moose. It is not conservatives who are subjecting her to ridicule for her femininity and are trying to destroy her with trumped up nonsense.
It seems to me that rather than "us" a better and more accurate word to describe those who are still not being fair to women would be "liberals". We've seen this pattern before with Condi Rice.
Whan I say "us" I am referring to our society as a whole, and our common attitude on certain types of women or at least what I am surrounded by where I live, and what seems to be the majority (even if many people do not have the same attitude).
Did you say fair to women? no one is trying to be unfair to women here, what the politics is out for is not about gender and You know it, talk about Hilary Clinton and i will talk about competence but Sarah Palin, .................. maybe you did not watch the vice presidential debate.
I did watch the vp debate, and Sara Palin is by no means as smooth and experienced as Biden. However, she is by no means stupid. Any person that is governor of a state and has the highest approval rating of the people in her state, must be doing something right, and must be somewhat intelligent. (Personally I think she is very smart)
Hillary Clinton grew up from a wealthy family in IL and had the help of her husband, the president, to promote her political career as NY senator, and primary presidential candidate. Sara Palin did not come from a rich family, her husband was not president, and she did not plan to be VP candidate: she only found out 2 months ago. Hilary had been planning for years, so of course she is more smooth...does that mean she is more intelligent, though, given all the extra time and help that she had? Definitely not by my standards. And I do believe the media is aiming for the "stupid pretty woman" stereotype, concerning Sara Palin, given the pictures they take and the light they show her in.
When you compare competence of Hilary to Sara, keep in mind all the extra practice Hilary had, as she has been planning to run for awhile now: so take her 4 years to Sara's 2 months (concerning VP and Presidential speech planning, and information on the issues to appear intelligent). Take into consideration the Clintons having immense power to pull strings and ensure the media portrays them in a better light. Take into consideration Hilary having a former PRESIDENT at her disposal to inform her of any issues.
Being a good politician isn't about how smooth you can talk to people: that only comes in handy when you are trying to win the next election: being a good politician is about sticking up for what you said you believed in, and watching out for the best interests of the American people. What good is a presidential genius if they are self-interested? I believe Sara Palin has a deep concern for everyday Americans, is very down to earth and relatable, and just because she has not had the opportunities of Hilary, doesn't mean that she isn't capable of doing what is best for the people, and learning what she needs to. She has only had 2 MONTHS NOTICE of this!
And face it: Sara Palin was picked over other republicans, not mainly because of her great reputation of fighting corruption even in her own party, but because she is a women, similar to the democrats putting more money into Hilary and Obama's primary and current campaign because of race and gender factors. My main point is that if you are going to shove a woman in office, make sure she is a woman (feminine and true to her nature). To me, Sara Palin is almost an ideal woman, she is extremely intelligent, as she has done a great job in her own state. I don’t mind if people disagree but to hate Sara Palin and give reasons like “because she is dumb” like so many people I run into isn’t being objective: it is buying into propaganda and special interest media who are playing on sexism. I am not saying you are doing that: only that many people are doing that and I think it is wrong, concerning how disrespected she is. Even Hilary spoke out against it, concerning Sara Palin! I was just looking for the link to the video of Hilary on a talk show speaking out, which I stumbled on 3 weeks ago, but I am sorry I can’t find it right now. I wanted to paste the link here
: ( Anyway, I don’t hate Hilary Clinton or think that she is stupid, I only relate more to Sara and feel she has a stronger connection to the American people (and is definitely not stupid).
Sorry this is so long : (
