The Progressive U Society-An opinion after two weeks
I arrived at this community after receiving an invite through FastWeb.Com's selection process based on my interests. One of the purposes of Fastweb is to hook up those of us who need money for college to those who are offering scholarships. I was eligible to join this community based on the fact one did not need to be a full time student and had a desire to compete for the scholarship.This then is the universe of those elibible minus those who do not feel they want to blog on a site named progressiveu.org.
The most fascinating part of blogging to me has been the interest in reading and commenting on others blogs. It still surprised me to notice today, when the House and the Senate will be headed by the Democratic Party now and Rumsfield has resigned, that the story with a huge amount of reads since it was posted has been the one on Britney Spears. Openly, I will admit I did read and comment on the story. I wondered if anyone else went to the blog because it was located on the right hand side of the website and was very easy to click on.
I have also checked out one of the blogs that made the top ten. Does one make the top ten because one writes pejoratively and or takes an extreme (???) position and so incites others to comment on their blog?
The many personal blogs,often written as a daily journal, are also valid as we all stretch to find out what our values are.
I tend to like research, often doing it independently or synthesizing others. Sometimes I will put a link to where the data or opinion is that I am commenting on or passing information on. I especially like others who also pass on good articles which express values. I think citing of sources is valid. I like learning of new websites where others also do research to support their opinion. There are others here who are also action oriented yet need links to where there is more information to come to a reasonable conclusion. I wonder if there is an action oriented group forum. Does anyone know?
I admire those who have an opinion yet don't know who to back it up and ask others on the website for help
Observing how others learn and express their values on this site will keep me coming back even after the contest is over.
