why does it seem like sad music is better than all other music put together? well actually i know that answer, its because its easier to relate to, it has more emotion in it, more reality, more everything. its personal, its seeing into another soul what you see in your own. think of your all time favorite song, not favorite song at the moment, but its usually a sad song or a song that brings a certain memory...there is somehow a personal connection to your song.
think of happy music, a happy song, its not really about anything, and if its got a realy good beat and it makes you wanna dance...its generally about sex. happy music is kind of a lost cause. agree? i do.

I don't think happy music is a totally lost cause. However it seems at this time in history we relate alot more to sad music.
The best way to a man's heart is really through his stomach, that way you don't have to deal with that pesky rib cage!

some happy music can remind people of how they are now done with the bad things in their lives. not all happy music is about sex, mostly though.
I have to disagree based on one simple thing...sublime. lol there are so many times on a nice summer day I just feel like rolling down my window and blasting some sublime while I am commuting to work. Don't get me wrong, I love a good sad song, but a nice sunny-day happy tune can really put me in the right mood!! I think that's why I love punk music...even though a lot of it is political, it has that happy-go-lucky feel about it :)
have you heard of a group called The spilled canvas?? you might like their stuff
yeah i wasnt even totally honest myself. because jack johnson is happy music that isnt about sex and its not sad and i totally contradicted myself because hes my favorite artist.
i was just listening to slower sad music at work and wrote it and then stopped writing cause the phone rang lol
Well there's Lauryn Hill's "Zion"-a song about her first child.
She also sings "Too Good To Be True" about love (not sex).
Then there's the Backstreet Boys' "Larger Than Life" about their fans. They also sing "The Perfect Fan" which is about their moms. They also sing "Time" which is about how far they've come.
Then of course there's Whitney Houston's rendition of "Jesus Loves Me", which I think is pretty obvious right there.
I could go on. If sad music is easier to relate to, I pity you. Seriously.
I love "sad music", but I mean c'mon. Happy music is awesome.
I think you're listening to the wrong type of music maybe? I can think of a ton of "happy" songs that's not about sex :)
Happy songs are awesome, as I said. ^_^
Just some suggestions...(It's older stuff) :)

Birds In My Tree-Strawberry Alarm Clock
More Than a Feeling-Boston
Chelsea Morning-Joni Mitchell
Peace Train-Cat Stevens
I don't like sad songs because they make me feel like crying, even though there might be no reason to cry.
Mmm, I don't really agree with anything in your posts as facts. Opinions, maybe. But are you going to base whether you like an artist or not on if their songs are happy or sad? If a band you like sings happy and sad songs, will you only listen to the sad ones? And music having a good beat being generally about sex...no. Maybe you need to expand your taste in music a little or something.
Now that I think of it, my favorite songs are sad songs, but I also enjoy happy songs that have a considerable amount of depth. My favorite song being "Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset" by Modest Mouse. It's an amazing song.
