So on the 4th of July I was at the local parade and fire works, when it started to rain. My friend and I decided to get a bite to eat as well as get out of the rain so where did we go… Perkins :dances: (they have really nice milk shakes). So I was at this Perkins and they seat me and my friend at a table. Now mind you we were both 17 (I think, my friend my be 16…) and we were seated without a parent or any supervision. So the waitress came over (before I rag on her I thought I should say she was kind of pretty) and asked if she could take our drink orders and I said “that would be awesome” (not sarcastic, actually I was in a great mood) “I would love a Dr.Pepper”, to which she answered “sorry we don’t have that”. So I ordered a Root Beer (tired of the whole dialogue thing). My friend had a Coke. Well I decided on a good ol’ American Hamburger while she is gone (yes Burger, Fries, Milkshake was my plan B-) I could not wait.) So she came back and handed me my drink… I take a sip and guess what… a coke. So I checked with my friend and she had a Coke too. So I thought I would be nice, since I was in such a good mood and look past it (yes I have seen the movie “Waiting”) and get right to the order… “ I would like a hamburger with some good ol’ fries I say with a grin… :dances: …(I actually almost danced) and my friend ordered nothing (was not hungry).
So this is where the problem starts… now I know that when some one orders a small meal they tend to tip small but I like to keep people happy so with like a ten dollar meal I will tip like 4 bucks or even 5. So back to the story, well the lady left and came back a good errr…. 12min later (my soda was empty and she did not notice) and she handed me my burger and fries then I turned around to ask for some honey mustard (I like them with my fries) and she was gone. :-B So I just eat and I wait another 5 till she finally refills my beverage. Then when I was just about done and ready for the milkshake she slams the bill on the table… :-B … ;'( … So I have to shake that off to I understand… NOT.
Yes I may be only 17 but I deserve as much respect by a server as a 32 year old does. The only reason that is, is because I pay just the same. I don’t get a discount at 17 and I should be treated as equal if I pay as equal. So I did not tip her, well that’s not true I left her a note stating that she should give all customers the time of day no matter their age or their order, maybe if she does that she will get my tip (it is not against the law to give no tip, and to me a waitress as to show a little effort) I’m sorry if this seemed so rude but I did not get my gosh-darn milkshake (I did not want to embarish her or me by calling her out in front of everyone (but I did use the managers pen to write the note LOL)).
It is really sad… to me at least.

There are some jerks.

I think she was probably having a bad day, or hates her job or something. Probably had nothing to do with your age.
But if I never actually got any real service, I probably wouldn't have tipped either. I've only not tipped once--I was at Chili's with a friend and our server basically ignored us the entire time we were there. She served the table behind us (twice--2 parties sat down and left before our food came out) with smiles and everything, but we had to have another server go find her for us to order both drinks and food. Not only did we not tip, we wrote a letter to the store manager.... We did give the server who refilled our drinks for us a couple dollars for leaving his own area.
I'm glad you left her a note. Maybe she just needs a reminder that it's not OK to take a negative attitude to work with her.

Well the only reason i cite age as a factor is because the entire time, the people next to us (an older couple with what looked to be thier grand daughter)and the people diagnal from us ( one man with his daughter) were seen every couple of minutes by the Waitress, it really seemed like she was ignoring our table all together (it might just be me being mello-dramatic and getting irritated) but it was just a thing i picked up on.

I've had that happen a few times, while I was with my family. The first was at a Mexican restaurant in our small town... a family came in after us and got their food before we were even asked what we would like to eat. The second was at a pretty fancy cajun restaurant in Denver. We sat around for ages waiting for our food, and didn't see our waitress at all after we finally did get our food until we asked her for our check.

You know my family sat in a restraunt for about half an hour once and we got up and walked off (we got the drinks free) the guy never even took our order and we sat there for half an hour
just irritating
(oh for anyone who cares, i got my Milkshake from a Coldstone Yesterday and it was amazing!)

I think I missed something:
Why didn't you just ask her for the milkshake if you didn't get it?
From the sounds of it, the waitress just started being rude after she brought the food. Is it possible that she had a run-in with someone while she was in the kitchen? I know it's wrong to take that kind of thing out on a customer, but waitresses lose control just like normal people.
Food is ready when it's ready, the waitress can't control that.
Maybe you need to be more confrontational. Like the coke/dr. Pepper incident. She would have fixed it for you asked. She probably would have fixed it even if you had ordered a coke.
