Everyone absolutely must see "An Inconvenient Truth" as soon as possible.
The movie is well done and accurate, and provides the viewer with information and tools. Global warming is VERY real. Denying it now is like denying that the sun exists. It's not a partisan movie, because global warming is not a political issue. It is a moral issue. We have to do something about the environment right away. The planet is at risk, and the human race will die out if something is not done right away, honestly.

Global warming is not a political issue?! Do ya live under a rock?
Global warming isn't a question of politics, it's a question of responsibility. It SHOULD go beyond party lines, but to protect corporations, the right-wing is against any enviornmental action.
So it has been made into a political issue, but it shouldn't be.
I think that may be in part the point of the post.
Exactly. The point that it's not a political issue means that everyone (both parties) should be concerned. And, we shouldn't let it be political, it is an environmental issue and EVERYONE should be working on it.
Environmentalism has become a political issue (Dems for, Reps against) but it shouldn't be. The point of my post and the movie is that everyone should be concerned and working to stop it, both parties need to work on it. Al Gore says in the movie, "This is not a political issue, it is a moral issue"
If the Republicans care even the smallest bit about the welfare and survival of humanity, not just money and votes, they'll stop calling it a money issue and start joining with Democrats to help solve this problem. Highly doubt it though, Washington Republicans rarely care about anything but money.

computer problems, sorry for the comment being posted 3 times.
I saw the movie also. It was somewhat interesting, but I do have some criticisms.
On the part where they compare photos from 30 years ago to know of snow-capped mountains, they never mention what time of the year the photos were taken. Does anyone know what season they were taken in?
Also, when Gore shows the graph that compares the co2 levels and the overall tempature of the planet, he shows how drastically the co2 levels have been climbing, but he never showed an actual increase in tempature (???). He said the relationship between them was "complex" , I think was the word he used.
I'm not one to shun preservation and nature protection action, but I found "An Inconvient Truth" a bit dramatized and disappointing. If there is as much validity as Al Gore says behind these statistics, then we should be shitting ourselves. But he didn't form a strong enough argument. He spoke as if he was just a dumb politician that listens to scientists blindly. Maybe it was because of the time he spent sharing with his background as a tobacco farmer that made me disbelieve him to be a very intelligent character. Especially when it shows him being drived around in the leather interior gas-guzzling limo, playing on his expensive laptop.
From what I understand, snow-capped mountains are supposed to have snow year round, not just in winter. Same with glaciers, they are supposed to stay mostly frozen (moving at like 1 mile per 100,000 years) all year round. Thus part of the concern about global warming, these landmarks are melting, and they're not supposed to.
Even so, I would've found it a lot more convincing if they would've showed the dates of the photos taken.
i think this is a big problem and i wish there was an easy answer
