The Clark County Democratic Convention was today at Bally's Casino. I arrived with plenty of time to spare, and in surprisingly good spirits considering I'm sick. Finding the end of the never ending line was an adventure; waiting in it was even more fun. Eventually a staff member was asking for alternates, I approached him and he told me that there was a much shorter line, so up the insanely long line I walked to find a nice short one. Waiting in that line for another 30 minutes, until I saw Justine and we finally got registered as alternates.
Going out of the registration room we heard someone who works for the casino saying that they had to close the doors because having that many people in the ballroom was a fire hazard. We stuck around for a while, and the harsh reality hit that we weren’t going to be let in. We eventually made a decision that yes, it was probably best if we just left. So as were leaving someone whom was working for Obama told us to go into the Bronze room and wait and that someone would get us into vote as soon as possible. So we walked back into the lion pit and there was someone making an announcement asking that if all the alternates could leave that would be greatly appreciated. So once again we made the hike back to the main casino and finally got to go.
I’m disappointed at the lack of organization. The venue was CLEARLY too small. If I wasn’t so absolutely liberal then I would have been truly considering switching to be a republican. They are probably better organized than we are. The fact that they expected so few people to show up, and so MANY did was a wonderful thing though. I think that America really is sick of the monkey like administration we’ve had in the past eight years.
