What are yall's opinions on religion? As another blogger said it is quite a controversial topic. Do you think religion is good? bad? necessary? or what? Also, what religions are you and are you strict? Personally I'm spiritual because I think religion is bad and unneccessary. There have been more wars in the name of religion than anything. Religion has killed more people than it has saved in my opinion. So leave your thoughts and we can see what people really think.

Religion has only been used as a scape goat to kill, it has not itself promoted war.
Ever read the old testament?
True but that is what the essence of many wars was. Not just a scapegoat but truely people believe so hard in something they are willing to do whatever for it. Have you ever heard g cubed? g^3? if not let me know and i'll tell you what it is. However now I believe it is more of a scape goat but yes it has sparked wars and still does ( palestine vs. Israel).
I think that spirituality is important and it's something that I would like to have, but organized religion always makes me a little uncomfortable.
But some people need religion because it provides a support system. You are surrounded by people with the same beliefs, and they are hopefully people who will comfort you in times of need.
If you're talking about religion as just a belief in some higher power, I think some people need that too. If you're stuck in the middle of the desert and dying of starvation and thirst, you're going to have no one to turn to but yourself. And for some people, that's not enough, so they put their faith in a divine power.
Lastly, religion isn't the only thing that has killed people in bulk. Any time a group of people wants to shove its beliefs at others, a lot of people die as a result. Holy wars are just a subcategory of belief wars.
I think I love you.
Hey, I'm a sucker for strangers. I think I could love you back on Sundays.
Awesome. Just don't tell my boyfriend.
I think organized religion is a lethal weapon; it seems more healthy for everyone to seek inside themselves and come with their own terms, instead of have it fed to them by other people. Mostly for the reason some people will become blinded by faith, which is potentially dangerous for people who do not share their views. My opinion.
It's difficult for people to look for spirituality or anything internally because it involves facing personal demons and questioning themselves and their beliefs, which leads to uncertainty, which probably leads to panic and tears. Also, most people seek social approval, so that adds another level of difficulty to stepping away from the group and finding your own faith and beliefs.
Very true; some people just aren't emotionally equipped for personal belief systems. Doesn't mean I still don't get the heebie jeebies when it comes to organized religion, though. :P
Believe what you will, but please don't push it on other people. I'm not saying religion is the only thing that kills people but it has killed the most and definately hasn't saved that many people. I believe spirituality is important as well because it makes the final days of your life easier.
I think the main problem about religion is that nobody seems to respect other ones. I'm Catholic, but my sister is Jewish, and I would never try to convert her, unlike some of her friends do.
I think that religion has been one of the most destructive forces throughout history. And not just for the wars, also for the damning of knowledge and the insistence on blind faith.I have great respect for anyone who isable to truly analyze their beliefs, whatever conclusion they come to. It is those who blindly follow that anger me, especially those who don't know that their eyes are closed.
