Health Insurance

I don’t know if anyone else really cares about this or not, but one of my biggest concerns as a part time college student living out on my own is health insurance.  Simply put, I can’t afford it.  Since I live on my own, I can’t be on my mom’s plan and I’m only part time in college so I don’t qualify for any type of student plans.  My job doesn’t offer benefits because it’s a small office, only three employees including my boss and group plans for us are more expensive than an individual plan.

As for individual plans, they are all so expensive that I really can’t afford one.  The ones I can afford are so awful that I really don’t even think it’s worth spending my money on.

It's amazing how something that everyone needs, like health insurance, is so expensive... but that is exactly why. The insurance companies know that people NEED insurance so they are able raise prices to ridiculous prices. My suggestion is to google independent insurance companies. There are quite a few privite companies that are resonably priced.

Thanks, I have tried that, but unfortunatly my budget is very very tight right now. At the end of the month after my other expenses (food, rent, car insurance, etc) I only have about $25 to $30 left over right now.

It means that for the moment there's not much to do. You're right, though...Insurance should be more accesible.
