Ah….the first post. The leap into another facet of the blogosphere. Perhaps I should start this post off with a question. Or perhaps not.
Pakistan banned the world from YouTube Sunday, apparently only intending to keep Pakistanis from accessing the blasphemous and seditious video site. However, PCCW, Pakistan’s primary ISP, decided that the best course of action was to lie to the various routing servers throughout the planet, saying that YouTube had a new set of IP addresses, all of which routed through Pakistan.
Throughout the day, the tiny nation’s entire Internet connection slowed as the PCCW servers attempted to keep up with the massive amount of traffic YouTube deals with on a daily basis. Meanwhile, those around the world trying to upload “blasphemous content” were met with the universal message “Connection has timed out.”
To my knowledge, Pakistan has yet to apologize to either YouTube or the rest of the world for violating national sovereignty, malicious hacking, being fascist asshats, or any other Internet-specific crimes I can’t think of.
From Digg.com:
Dear Pakistan,
F[***] you.
Sincerely,
The Internet
This brilliant poster aggregated approximately 270 ‘diggs’ at the time of this writing, perfectly capturing the sentiments of millions, if not tens of milions, of habitual Internet users globally.
Apparently ProgressiveU has determined that my post is somewhat shorter than 200 words. I therefore have typed this last paragraph in hopes that this confounded blog editor will allow me to submit my post without complaint.
