Imagine

I myself am a huge Beatles fan, and I dont know if a lot of people actually listen to their music. I must admit that a lot of it is hard to understand, but I find that a lot of their music was not only influential in the 60's, but is also becoming very influential now. A lot of people compare this war on terrorism to Vietnam. I dont neccesarily disagree or agree with it, but it does interest me.

Strawberry Fields forever, I'm not sure what other people think this song is about, but to me I think of blood, fields of blood shed by the Vietnam war. A war where everyone started out defending the governement, but ended in people completely against it that there were hundreds of raids, marches, and huge gatherings of hundreds sometimes thousands to hear people from anti war groups speak their mind. So much innocent blood shed now, and we sit here on the verge of what happened in the 60's.

I know that a lot of the Beatles songs were influenced by drugs, but all of their songs had some kind of a meaning. "Let it be", this song truthfully makes me want to cry almost everytime I hear it, because you can almost feel the pain that people were going through with that war. Just like you can almost feel the pain of mothers, fathers, wives, husbands that have lost their loved one in this war.

I am not against this war, I am against some of our intentions and our reasonings for us being over there, but I fully support that our troops our fighting for us. I still cant help be afraid though, of what might come if this continues. So many have died, innocent young kids, we hear of at least 1 person, sometimes more a day in the newspapers, and those are usually just kids that died in our home towns. Thats not including the hundreds of others in other states.

The Beatles had the right idea, Let it be, and Imagine (yes I know this is John Lennon). I hear these songs and it doesn't make me think of Vietnam, it makes me think of what is happening and what might come in the future. Could we all do exactly what happened in the 60's, huge gatherings of anti war groups, or people for the war. Bombings, raids, marches? Is it possible? Could we all eventually turn against our government and troops? Its slowly already begun, and we are all blind to what might happen. A lot of people including troops are mad because people comment that they are for the troops but against the government. Of course no one would be against the troops, they are only the innocent bystanders, but you saying that you are against the government is like a slap in the face for them. This country has already been slowly falling apart from our own doings, and without the help of this war, but it scares me to think that maybe it could happen again. Its starting out exactly how it started in the 60's, except we wont have the Beatles, or other artists that sang music to comfort us. Mainly because no music will ever beat the music that came out of the 60's and 70's. I dont like music now, but thats another story for another day.
