I'm guilty of having a MySpace, that I hardly use maybe once a week, compared to my kid sisters, who range from 15-18, that take random pics of themselves in the bathroom wearing sunglasses. Strange, I know. That's what I thought. But, they aren't the only ones. Some girls that are about 12-13 pose in sexual positions and talk about how they love to smoke, drink alcohol and party everyday. (Kiss, Rock and Roll All Nite. I stole their lyrics. LOL.) Well, I went on mine last night, since I have to admit, that I like to change the background of my page, as well as the song that I'm into at the moment. Yes, I do put pictures of myself on there, but I don't pose for them, just random shots of my husband and I, our daughter, and whatever else we are doing. The difference between me and younger girls is that I'm 21 years old, and it's alright for me to have a beer and take a picture with it in my hand. It seems desperate to me for those people who have to take their cameras with them to every bar or house party to take a picture to prove that they are cool. I took my camera with me for my 21st birthday to the club, and did take pics of me dancing by myself and with my husband, and my cousins that came with me. But, I didn't make the photo session all about me. So, does that mean that I'm not obsessed with myself?
Out of all the friends that I have on MySpace, I hardly talk to more than twelve of them on a regular basis. Most of them are old friends from high school that have their own lifes and hardly ever check to see what's going on in mine. I don't check on their lifes either, so it's the same situation both ways you look at it.
Well, it's a great way to make friends or find them, but sometimes it definitely crosses the line with some, like porn stars trying to make a name for themselves, or rappers/singers doing the same thing. I have heard of singers/rappers that end up with a career, owing it to the listeners of MySpace, such as Tila Tequila. She ended up getting her own dating show on MTV, which was a joke.
My only word that I can give to the girls/guys that spend hours on end, taking random pics of themselves, trying to hit on any and everybody, "Knock it off. You end up looking pathetic and desperate." I feel better that is off my chest.

There was a video on YouTube of some guys making fun of Myspacers who look on myspace to date. They go through all the different aspects of myspace. The "about me" section. The "general interest" section. It's hilarious when they get to the picture part. They say to stay away from people who have "the angles" in their pictures. I guess... I'm probably not making any sense. I'm not even sure what this video is called; but it's sad that they hit the nail on the head with everything they said. I don't personally understand the hype. I use it to keep in touch with friends and family... But other than that I could care less. Some people are way too into it.
