Bio Lesson Part II
A more shocking look at steroids…
The result of cholesterol made by steroids was previously discussed. (See my post “STEROIDS-- If Only You Knew What You Were Putting in Your Body.”) However I failed to further discuss other harmful effects of steroids, and this was brought to my attention.
When testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone are formed by steroids, hormones in the body are altered causing a change in physical appearance. For example, if a female takes steroids then facial hair may become more apparent. Use of steroids by a male (as well as females) may result in noticeable outbreaks of acne. (There are also other dramatic changes in both male and females but you can research that yourself because it can become rather graphic.)
Even more detrimental to your body, steroids affect enzymes in your central nervous system (CNS.) Your CNS along with your peripheral nervous system (PNS) controls your behavior. Slight changes can trigger different types of behavior. This along with altered hormones is what causes some people to become violent, temperamental, or overly emotional. Mood swings cannot be controlled or predicted and this is why steroids are extremely dangerous.
Note: This post, along with the post “STEROIDS-- If Only You Knew What You Were Putting in Your Body,” is discussing anabolic steroids, which are used to increase protein synthesis resulting in the build-up of muscular tissue.

but let me tell another story...He fought with an ex-g years ago, while on anabolic steroids, and she shut her car door and locked it, he ripped it off. He was a monster on them...we laugh about it now, but sheesh. I love that gentle man, I am glad he is not on them now, though we have talked about it.
i have heard some pretty crazy stories, but that is just scary! its good to hear that he isn't on them anymore. it seems as though they bring the worst out in people.
