You probably have already read, heard, or seen reports that the leader of Al Qaida in Iraq was "killed this morning when two 500lb bombs" were dropped on where he was -- and if you've seen the pictures then you know that he takes bombings very well. A thousands pounds of bomb should pretty well char everything in its path... maybe they're just not as powerful as we thought. Maybe the guy who designed these ones forgot to convert from metric...
Any way, the point in all of this: what should have been done with him? Instead of bombing him and killing more people, shouldn't we have just captured him and put him on trial at the Hague? That's what I would have done. But of course, I'm no good with this war stuff, I'm just a girl. But you know, killing only begets more killing so...
I've always thought that real war criminals should be put on trial at the Hague, just like the Nazi war criminals of WW2. (In fact, if the trial of Sadaam Hussein -- do you remember Sadaam? -- was more than a show trial it would also be at the Hague.) Though, where's the vengence in that? A fair trial? Why, there would have to be a tribunal, and opposing council and the worst political death I can imagine for a lawyer (short of defending MAnn Coulter in public) would be representing someone on trial for war crimes. Except, what was that old saying... I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it?
Is it any different for war criminals than it is for your run of the mill murderer? I don't think so. I think that everyone who stands accused of something get a fair trial, and I don't care where they're from or who they killed. The Nazi war criminals tried at the Hague after WW2 were responsible for the deaths of people like me (in fact, people who were related to me), and I would have screamed and shouted for them to have a fair trial, because simply killing them in revenge without consulting a jury of their peers or a tribunal of judges isn't real justice. Presenting evidence and showing that there is guilt and proving that there is guilt will produce justice. Not doing so only brings you down to their level.
Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

You get them, or they get you. The U.S does not know what they have in there. Maybe bombs, missiles. When we are over here we can easily say that we should just arrest him. But when your life is on the line, I don't think you would risk it. Those bombers are crazy and unexpected. They did go on info, and hopefully they did not kill civilians.
They did overdo it though.
