Growing up in Hawaii is really different than any other place in the world. It truly is a "melting pot" and society is like one grade behind the whole "in" thing. Oahu to be exact, is the gathering isle and is the main city (I guess you could say) out of all the islands. Yesterday I picked up a magazine, on the cover was a picture of Reese Witherspoon. Man she is gorgeous. I skimmed through it and every picture I saw was filled with fit men with perfect muscles and perfect women with the right curves in the right places. It never really dawned on me that the media is so FAKE. It is true beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it is sad that the media portrays beauty as being tall and skinny. It's sad how people let the media affect their lives so much to the point where they dedicate all their time into looking like celebrities, when the truth is--it's all fake. Everyone has something that isn't "beautiful" on them. Beauty truly comes from within. I really started understanding that when I met my boyfriends sister. She's beautiful and talented. Same age as me, 17, but messes up her life terribly. Dropped out of high school and is very promiscuous. The ugliness of her actions outweighs her beauty. I also met this other lady the other day. Very curvy and her hair was a mess. I sat down and spoke to her and by the end of the conversation she looked different. She looked pretty. I am a very firm believer in Beauty that comes within. I think everyone should start thinking of beauty in that way and everyone would be much happier.

I would like to add that even if a person is looked upon as ugly, because of their past or present actions, they too could still be just as beautiful as a daisy, by the end of the night.
I wish we could all think that way. Yet, society makes it very hard to believe. It all depends on a person's self esteem. People should be happy with who they are as long as they are healthy and happy. Have you seen America's Top Model? They are imperfect and human. Computers and make up only make them look better. Yet modeling is a very criticizing and harsh career. Some people may look pretty but often don't feel it on the inside.
Yes I do watch it. In fact, I actually work at a photography place so that made me really realize that everyone has flaws. Even the super gorgeous girls and guys.
Thank you for this it was very inspiring... I believe that everyone is beautiful in his/ her own way , there should not be a certain perspective on what beauty is .. and I think that we as a society should work on praising people for his/her own beauty.. So thank you again
