So, those of you watching Global News in Vancouver last night, saw the section on the old man who died in the emergency room from pneumonia, right? Well, in case you didn't: http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20060425/death_inves... Right, to summarize; an old man of 88, died of pneumonia, this is news? Pneumonia is called "The Old Man's Friend" for a reason. Really, hearing that he died wasn't that alarming. That's like hearing a cat jumped off a table and landed on it's feet. However, a 30-year-old who bleeds out from an ulcer in the waiting room of an emergency ward in Vancouver, doesn't warrent the news? Granted, it was a month ago, but really, one would think that the guy who dies in the prime of his life because emergency wards of our province are understaffed, not to mention there aren't eough of them, would be the more news worthy.
And the Government can't figure out what to do? We don't have enough nurses, doctors or hospitals? Huh. There's a toughie. But all I want to know is if we are having problems like this in our health care why it is that our hospitals keep getting closed down and the emergency hours go from 24/7 to 8am to 5pm. I didn't know medical emergencies only happened during the working week. Note to self: don't break our leg during the weekend. You might have to wait until the next Monday morning the way things are going.

Pretty disgraceful..
