Is Colon Cleansing the Right Path?

WARNING: This post may make some people uneasy.

I recently found out that my bowels are blocked up causing very severe abdominal pains. The doctor took x-rays and showed me the most disturbing picture I've ever seen. I immediately began trying to eliminate the waste. Using laxatives and enemas etc without much relief. I happened upon a Complete Body Cleansing System at GNC which is a 2-day system. I am beginning it now and am on my first day but still have NOT had a successful bowel movement that feels like I evacuated EVERYTHING.

Some people may be able to relate to this and some people may think that I am the most disgusting person for posting it. So I appologize if I am out of line.

Has anyone used a cleansing program? Did it work and how soon? Did you have similar problems as me prior to using the system? Did it still work?

Anyone with IBS and can relate? I believe that I have IBS. Doctors say they can't diagnose this until everything else ends up not being the problem. I tend to always get nervous and get what I call "nervous gas" and most of the time end up with diarrhea. I tend to feel like I make myself sick and I've noticed this since junior high when I would be getting ready for a basketball game and we would be in the huddle right before and I would begin to get nervous and become gassy and my team mates would make fun of me even though it wasn't something I could help.

I am extremely embarrassed about expressing this but I have a concern for my health as well as many others who may be having the same types of problems.

Please leave as much helpful information as possible to answer anyone's questions they may have. I would greatly appreciate as much advice as possible.

I do not think it's disgusting at all since it is a health issue. Sorry I do not have the answer you are looking for. But I would like to know more about this. Do you know how you got it in the first place? Actually, I do not even know what it is...do you mind elaborating more? If anything you can always PM me. I truly am interested in the subject for personal reasons.

Well about 4 months ago I became constipated and took a stool softener. I had diarrea as a result and thought I got rid of to blockage. I continued to have diarrea for a few months and went to my gyno to get blood drawn to check my kidneys and liver for functioning, because I am doing the HPV shot and that could happen as a result. So the tests came back fine and I decided to wait it out thinking there wasnt anything wrong with me. Ive had diarrea for over 4 months and soon came the intense abdominal pain. It started to feel like period cramps for a few days then started hurting sharper on my left side.. then my right side... then a week later grew in intensity to where I had to leave work and go to the emergency clinic where they took the xray. It is all a mystery to me. I have no idea what might be causing it unless I have some underlying condition that they will take forever to find or I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome IBS.

Having diarrhea...for four months?! Wow, that's a long time. When you solve the mystery, can you enlighten me about it? I learn something new everyday. Thanks for blogging about.

Have you ever tried taking Probiotics? Some of those reportedly help.

Uh yeah. That's a good idea. However, how you go about it is what really matters. If you manage to purge a large mass you will be left with an expanded colon which if you have regular calogen elasticity you should be alright before too long. This is the kind of thing any quick fix is liable to lead to.

You seem to be in an imbalance regarding diet. Water, water, water, green leafies, whole grains (whole wheat, old fashioned oats, brown rice) light proteins avoiding red meats. Wake your body up with a good protein source when you wake up, take a twenty minute walk. Walking does a lot of great gastro-intestinal stimulating things. Like letting you feel free to fart. Have at least a light healthy breakfast every morning. Don't think in terms of singularly focused body maintenance, you are a complete organism. The best detoxing agents available are the sulfur compounds found in onions, garlic, mustard and egg yolks.

I'd agree with this advice, but I'll just elaborate a bit on the colon cleansing. My advice regarding this would be to talk to a Proctologist and not a 'Colonic Hydration Therapist'. If you decide you want to try a colon cleanse a Proctologist is medically trained and will tell you honestly whether or not it is necessary. A Colonic Hydration Therapist will tell you that everybody needs it, whether or not it will do any good, they are also not medically trained, you could become one tomorrow morning if you had the right equipment.

Most Proctologists will have access to the necessary equipment to perform the procedure, but they usually only use colon cleanses to aid examination, as a healthy bowel cleans itself out naturally in cycles. Colonic Hydration Therapists assert that hardened faeces builds up in everybody's bowels and that colon cleanse it the only way to shift it, but then again they are not medically trained and haven't actually performed surgery on bowels; surgeons who have, basically call bullshit on the claims of the therapists. Avoid Colonic Hydration Therapists, they claim that we are all full of hardened faeces, but it's actually only true for them, they're so full of shit they're making a living out of it. If you want a medical opinion, go to a Proctologist or post an enquiry on a Proctology site, that would be my advice. We can all offer what we know about the subject, but you'd be better off asking a professional.

Yes, I agree with Fr33 2 b that you should eat green, leafy vegetables; also, you should eat a lot of salads (with green, leafy vegetables) because salads help you have good bowel movements and help you release that waste.

I had to go to the ER yesterday. They took another xray and i was beyond plugged up. The doctor said it was the worst back up hes seen in a long time. He ended up giving me "GOLIGHTLY" which is this gallon water jug with medicine in it which tastes disgusting! They give it to people to drink before a colonoscopy. Its already starting to work but the doctor said to be prepared for the most pain youve been in. He said it was like cramps on steroids. So I will do another update after this whole thing to let you know how it went. Wish me luck.

It's great that you're already talking to doctors, but I've done a little research on this as well.

I haven't had it done yet, but the Colon Irrigation is supposed to be not only good for you have have done every now and then, but I've read stories of people who have passed things from their childhood that they swallowed (30+ years ago).

Check this site (http://www.drnatura.com/colonix_program.php) out as well. This is supposed to be the best product on the market.

Make sure you check with your doc before doing any of the things listed above, especially since you're already seeing a doc.

Tabias-

Has anyone tried Zrii (tm) as a colon cleanse? Supposedly the Tulsi, Ginger and Haritaki in Zrii (tm) will help cleanse the colon too. http://www.amalaki-drink.blogspot.com talks more about the Ayurvedic health drink called Zrii (tm). I would be interested to hear if anyone gets the same benefits from Zrii (tm) as they would from an outright colon cleanse.
