Well, I am again sitting in the student center and the TV is set on Oprah. There is a man who was homeless but approached by a big Movie network to do a social experience on him. They gave him 100 thousand dollars to see how it would change his life. I didn't catch the exact timeline; however, the man is now broke, father in debt than before and blaming it on others!
I can not believe this? He said that he really sees how people really are and it's society to blame for him being homeless again. What?? It's HIM to blame. He never once got a job when he finally had means to get a car and better clothes and a bath. He had the choice to save his money and invest it, but he decided to blow it!!
Well if I were to get such a large amount of money I'd donate it to mulitple charities, start a scholarship fund for my high school, and then I would INVEST INVEST INVEST!! I don't even think I would buy a new car? Maybe a new bike?

Amazingly sad. So few in this society seem to admit that their actions and choices are to blame for their downfall or success. I am so tired of everyone blaming society or some invisible disease for their problems. Sure, there is a huge amount of temptation in our culture today, we are bombarded with ads telling us to buy more of everything, have one better than the person next door, why wait just get it today, 90 days same as cash, etc. but we are responsible for the choices we make and the consequences that follow.
I've heard a lot of stories of lottery winners that turn out the same, people's lives much worse a few years after winning millions. Maybe the problem is that people don't appreciate what they have unless they've really worked for it?
The last sentence in your comment is priceless- I see a lot of truth in that!!

He doesn't have any basis for responsible spending. He literally doesn't know how to not be homeless. He took the panhadling economical sense and applied it to more money than he has probably ever seen. Sure it is his fault, but what did you expect?
Money is very hard to handle effectively, and most homeless people don't know how. They should have counseled him, gotten him educated about how to handle money. Sure it was an interesting experiment, but in the end it was just cheap thrills at watching a man destroy himself again. I could have told you that was going to happen without making this guys life any worse.
