I think that the ACT and the SAT are completely unfair. They don't accurately show a person's intelligence or capability. Someone could be a horrible student who doesn't do their work or care about education but get a 32 on their ACT. That person would get a better scholorship or get accepted to a college before someone who is a wonderful student with a 4.0 GPA but has a 23 on their ACT because they don't test well.
Also some people may be more intelligent in other areas other than English, Math, Reading, and Science. The experts say that you can "master" the ACT and SAT with strategies but basically it's luck. Either you know the answer or not; there is no way to know it if you don't know it. Other ares such as History, Music, or Art should be tested as well. It should be more well-rounded to include every aspect of intelligence.
Colleges and universities shouldn't put so much emphasis on the ACT and SAT especially when it comes to scholorships. I understand that they can't rely on GPAs much because sometimes they aren't acurate because some teacher don't give students what they deserve, but they should find other ways to award scholorships. For example, they could look more at teacher, counselor, and administration recommendations. References from honest people would show a student's intelligence and capability way better than the ACT or SAT.
I, for one, am sick of studying for the stupid ACT and just want to get done with it. I studied a lot and even took an ACT prep class but I'm still not doing better. I took a Kaplan class that promises a higher score but my score dropped. The ACT is extremely stressful and puts so much stress on Juniors and Seniors who have other things to worry about too such as grades and college applications. It's not necessary to put so much stress on a teenager for a stupid exam.
The ACT and SAT are completely unfair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
