Today was my high school's first Gay-Straight alliance meeting. This makes me really, really really happy. I tried to get one started a few years back and it didn't go anywhere. But now it exists at my school, and I can't wait to have this club become a safe haven and a catalyst for change. As far as I am concerned, love is love is love. I hate it when people ask me, when I'm standing up LGBT (lesbian gay bisexual transgender) people, are you a lesbo? Does it matter? (I'm not). I am open to all people, no matter who their share their bed with. Besides, I think that caring for someone goes far deeper than gender (or at least it should). I hope that other students are going to read this and maybe go to their school GSA or maybe start their own GSA, it is the first step towards a happier, safer, more open school and nation. Peace : )

Oh, and if anyone has any ideas on what our GSA could be doing, I'd really love some input, especially from people who are active in their own GSAs. We brainstormed ideas today and other ideas would be great. We'd like to do everything from education to advocacy training (and much much more!) thanks.
I dont have any input. But I think it's good that your school is doing that. I go to a primarily military-based college at the moment and they would never even conisder a GSA. However at the school I'm about to transfer to, about 75% of the students are open gay/lesbians. I personally have no problems with people of that orientation, although I myself am straight.
Thanks for the support. I think many gays and lesbians would have an easier time if only they knew of allies that stood behind them. And yes, it is very cool.

An interesting idea. My school is to small to start soemthing like that and it's my last year there. If I start something it won't be continued. Plus you need a teacher to oversee and none of the teachers at my school will allow it I don't think. But good luck!
