Researching at NIH

I finally did it. I got an internship at the National Institutes of Health. Out of the thousands of applicants , I was one of only 1200 applicants who got the internship. I will be working at the Critical Care Medicine Department at NIH. It comes with a lot of benefits too. I get two thousand dollars a month as a stipend, so it is considered an award. The supervisor I will be working with is well-respected physician Dr. Robert Shingles. I just contacted him recently and discussed my upcoming project with him. He wants me to work with interleukin - beta cells and the effect endotoxins have on these cells. To be honest, I have no idea what any of that means, so I have to do some research. I will hopefully start in May, right after school ends. He says that I have to make a poster and PowerPoint presentation at the end of the research to exhibit my research work. I will have to present to the entire lab. There is also a poster day in the beginning of August, which I have to present the poster I am suppose to do. I cannot wait to start in May.

Congrats. I'm waiting to hear back from St. Jude's myself. Or the Red Cross.

That sounds amazing - and that's a FAT stipend! Over twice the amount this scholarship gives, and EVERY MONTH. Nice. XD
