After saying that Howard Dean will remain head of the DNC, Obama and the DNC released a notice that no lobbyist or political action committee will be able to lobby or sway decisions of any member of the DNC. What an awesome move for your second day as the presumptive Democratic nominee for President, Barack!

This sends out a message to the country that Barack is not kidding around. I love it because it downplays the role of lobbyist in a government that has been inefficient for all of my life and most of the lives of everyone reading this. How many laws about alternative energy practices and getting us off of oil have not been passed into law because of lobbyists to George Bush and other leading Republicans from his oil buddies down in Texas? Our country could still be the leader in many fields that we have fallen behind due to the slow movement of policies through Washington.

The big question is whether or not this will actually work. After all, 20% of the fundraising in the 2005-2006 election season for the DNC came from those contributing more than $250. I am unaware of the exact number of those contributors who were registered lobbyists or PACs, but it has to be a decently large number, but hopefully this is all coming to an end thanks to our next President. Our government will become more prosperous, efficient and effective thanks to means like this that Barack will take in the time leading up to the election and during the time he will be in office for the next 8 years.
