Are political parties detrimental to the election process?

I myself plan to be a politican, when I come of age to run for office. Yet even, with how involved I am in my own political party. I wonder if Political Parties are a good thing when it comes to the presenting of the peoples' ideas. Take this for example, if a democrat or republican agree with an idea from the other parties platform, they are considered a bad republican or democrat. I think if you need to express your views, even if they don't concide with your party affiliation. Thats why there is supposedly an independent party, but no one gives that party money, so no one can truly be independent if they want to run a successful campaign.

So you wonder why people become corrupt? Its rather simple if they don't take money along the way, they can't even make it into office agians't incumbents. Now this of course make politicans resposible to the people who give them money, and that of course draws their attention away from the People.I imagine I will get some comments saying,  well actually donors have to identify themself and blah blah blah. The truth is though, a few people are providing most of the dough.

My solution to this is rather simple, give money from the government to the canidates running for office. With this plan  however we would have to limit the amount of people able to run for office. You ask me how would we decide this? Well that one I haven't figured out yet, but hey I have atleast 8 years until the House, and 13 for the Senate, to think this all over. All I know that in the end I want to make sure, I can sleep at knowing, no one is pulling my strings, when I enter Congress.

In the end I think if you take a look at our government, you will see some individuals that could represent us better, if they didn't have to worry about the cash flow. I just want politicans that want what is best for America, not for special intrest groups.
