Working...High School for grown-ups.

Hello everyone, I just thought that I would share a little bit about whats going on inside my job. I work for Longs Drugs, a drug store in California that is quite popular in our town. Anyways, until recently we've had the same management in charge, and while it hasn't been great, there was never any real dislikes or gossip between the regualr employees and the management. But about a month ago, we got a new assistant manager who, when she first started to work, seemed like a good person. But there was always something wierd about her. Like, we were putting out halloween candy, and we were supposed to transfer it from one isle to another. This task took like 4 people to do and on top of it, all day. And at the end of the day, she keep saying, "we got a lot of stuff done today, right?" Almost like she was trying to confince us and herself that we got a lot of stuff done. But in reality we didn't.

But that is not the worst of it, I guess there is a lot of issues between this assistant manager and two other department managers. Between them all, there has been a lot of gossip and talking behind each others backs. And one day, I got pulled into the beef between the assistant manager and other department manager, when I was seen talking about non-work issues. And when I returned back to work, I was questioned if the DM (department manager) had said anything about the AM (assistant manager).

Are we in high school? I mean these women, are acting like they are teenaged girls. After I told the AM that we weren't even talking about work, she went on to say if she the DM's continue to talk about her, that she was going to get HR (Human Resources) in here. I mean grow up, seriously though. I don't know exactly what started the fued between the AM and the Dm's, but whatever it was, don't you think that they should act like professionals, and keep in on the down low. Instead of practically insinuating that just because I was having a conversation with one of the DM's on her day off that we would be talking about her.

And I thought that this would be my last year of having to deal with teenage drama...

I have left many a job due to the very type of people and b.s. you wrote about. I thought too that once highschool was over that I wouldn't have to deal with the boys flipping my bra strap, or the girls in home ec slipping chilli powder into my cookies. I thought people actually matured as they grew older.
They even made a bunch of harassment laws and stuff about it.
The mentality is still "who cares?"
...and when it's the management acting like idiots, the whole line of bull crap just trickles down.
I'd try and get transferred.

It's everywhere. Even immature people can fake a good interview sometimes. I don't think transferring to another location would eliminate the problem in general.
