Ok, the survey posted this week has encouraged me to write this blog. I have had discussion with several people about the abortion issues. Now, for those who have read my second blog that I ever wrote, "Horton Hears a Who- Abortion", you will see that I have not put my position in black and white when it comes to abortion. I will reveal now, if you haven't noticed that I am "Pro-Life".
Now what does Pro-Life mean? It means I would like to stand up for the thousands of unborn children everywhere. The ones that cannot speak for themselves. The ones that cannot help who fathered them. The ones who's lives have been or will be cut short by their own parents. I am hear to represent the silent cries of the unborn.
I just want to address the issue of what a human being is. Now I actually did a little research so that I don't get caught up in the words. My emotions tend to get the best of me. Human life: This is "any living cell or collection of living cells that contains DNA from the species homo sapiens." 1 This includes an ovum, a spermatozoon, zygote, embryo, fetus, newborn. Now this also includes a hair folllicle, a breast cancer cell or skin scrapings.
I strongly believe that if skin scrapings are apart of human life, then a fetus is definitely a part of human life. I hear people complain all the time that a fetus is not a full developed human yet, so it's not human. But I am sorry, I must disagree. If it is meant to be something than it mine as well be it already. Now I don't want to use God as a crutch for all of my discussions, but it is hard not to. If He has planted something inside you, who are we to go ahead and destroy it. It is murder, no matter how you put it.
Definition of Murder: NOUN: 1. The unlawful killing of one human by another.
Now, there is one case where I believe that abortion may be acceptable. That is if a life is at stake. So if the mother has a life-threatning situation and must terminate pregnancy then it would be a legitimate reason to have an abortion. Otherwise, it is imoral and should not be allowed.
It just seems to me that women are looking for an easy way out. And that saddens me about America today. Always looking for an easy way out of everything. No one suffers any consequences anymore. If you are adult enough, responsible enough and wiling to have sex, then are willing to have a baby. If you want to partake in something you have to accept the whole package, no? Another thing is if abortion is such a great thing than why don't we teach it in schools? I'm sure there are many teachers who are pro-choice, so why don't we have sex-ed clases that teach about abortion?
The bottom line is this, and I hope that I didn't come off too strong, but is it worth another life. Is killing a fetus, a baby, so that you could live a better life yourself, is it worth it? There were people that were supposed to be the future of our nation, killed, murdered by parents who just couldn't face it.
There should be counseling for every woman who gets pregnant. It should be mandatory. They should explain the extremes of being a parent, or of giving up a kid for adoption. There are so many alternatives but we are all looking the other way.

I totally agree with you. I think it's murder however you look at it. God has a purpose for human being ever created under your definition and who are we to mess with God's plan. I'm sorry guys, but that's why you're suppose to wait until marriage to have sex. If you can't wait that long then deal with the consequences.
Unfortunately, today consequences are rarely being suffered. Not that I want people to suffer. It's just that how do we learn if there aren't any consequences.

I'm just wondering why you think abortion is an easy way out? I'm pretty sure that's not the thinking process that many women terminating their pregnancies go through.

Being an adult, responsibility, and willingness aren't really prerequisites for sex these days, it seems. Kiota has a really good blog on this right here you should read.

Abortion isn't really such a great thing, but that's beside the point. It's not taught in public schools because funding for sexual education programs only pays for abstinence only programs. If schools want to teach something else, they lose the sexual education funding and are left without sexual education at all.
If the government isn't willing to teach children about contraceptives and safe sex, then they have no right to make abortions illegal. My logic there is bad because I don't think they have the right even if they did teach something other than "don't have sex and you won't have the consequences that come from it," but I'm ok with my faulty logic.

I noted that abortion is an easy way out because it is a termination, a stop at life. It's done quickly and no one would ever know you were pregnant. It's the easy way out.
I see where you're getting at with sex-ed, but either way it shouldn't give anyone an excuse to terminate pregnancy.

I see how you feel so strongly against abortion I was once that way. I see it differently, if a woman is raped and impreganted by the act, is what you are carrying still a gift from God? If your father sexually molested you and impregnated you is this "murder" to terminate the pregnancy? The stats alone show you you just how much of a failure our foster care system is and the cost of adoption is just outrageous.

You see it depends on the situation of the "mother-to-be" whether or not they are in the condition, financially, emotionally, and physically, to have a child. I am sorry to say that just because you have concieved doesn't make it right to have the child. has everyone forgotten the days of the hangar, that caused the deaths of both mother and child. The basement and backyard abortions. The "black market" that opened up for women who wanted abortions. Similar to the "speak-easies" of the days of prohibition(if you illegalize it, it doesn't mean it goes away). Let us not forget that women went to third world countries to get abortions and majority of the time didn't come back or came back wihtout the ability to conceive. Where is the protection for these women.
Abortion is not an easy way far from it, the psycholigical and emotional trauma associated with abortions alone is a story unto itslef. I feel as if "Pro-Lifers" look at the whole issue through rose colored glasses. The issue is not simply a balck and white issue, it's no longer about immoral or moral, the legal definition of murder yes is a human being killing another, but that argument is flawed because what happens if you kill a dog is that murder, not by the legal definition. (not to compare a fetus to a dog, its just for an example). It seems that women who have had an abortion have to hide in shadow, and remain secret, why, there is no shame in your decision. "Pro-lifers" tend to (not always and not everyone) make us out as savages, and call us murderers for our choices and thats not right waht about the decision to ut animals to sleep or assisted suicide what about those issues. Are they just as immoral, what about stepping on a roach, or killing a spider. Life is life right and extinguishing one life whether it be human or not isn't that just as immoral. What about the death penalty, murder is murder right, the death penalty is the exact definition of murder. i don't mean to go off on a tangent, but this is an emotuional issue. The rights of women has always taken a backburner even when it comes to their own bodies and I say enough is enough.
Abortion is a very personal decision and these women are not murderers or monsters. They know that they cannot have this child, they are being responsible enough to face this decision and learn from their mistakes. What of these young girls who dont know enough and at age 13 are pregnant themselves, from circumstances that she could not prevent, or were minipulated into. These girls have the right to terminate and have a chance at living a life that is not filled with constant struggel and strife.
