The subject of capital punishment has been a emotional charged subject. Some people feel that it is appropriate in some situations and others feel that it is not appropriate at all in any situations.
Capital punishment is being used on very dangerous and cruel criminals across the nation. Other cultures support capital punishment and capital punishment is the most popular punishment in other cultures or countries as well. But do you kill someone who has committed a very cruel crime? I don't know. I think that merely killing someone who killed someone or people does nothing for that criminal it doesn't help them at all. It just another dead body. It may give closure to the victim's family and sometimes the family wants capital punishment because they want revenge.
My opinion is this: I don't support capital punishment at all because it does nothing for the criminal. I would rather let that criminal sit behind bars for the rest of his life and think about what he/she did and redem himself and forgive himself or herself. But I can also see from the victim's family point-of-view because they have lost their love one. I can see why they would want capital punishment; like i stated earlier it is an emoionally charged subject for the victim's family because they are angry.

This is definitely a difficult subject. As a Republican, I am supposed to support it. But I don't. My biggest reason against it is that there is a possiblility that the condemned might have a heart change, repent, and give his life to God. And for the sake of one saved soul, I would rather we not kill anybody.

I totally agree with you i rather try to heal someone than kill them.
This is so weird. My professor was just discussing this topic last week. If you support capital punishment (which I know you don't), then you'd have to accept the philosophy of "An eye for an eye, a life for a life," or something like that. I don't support capital punishment either because I don't think that's true justice. What give people that right to take away another person's life? If someone says, "Oh he killed my father so I killed him. It's justice." No it's not, it's revenge...which is totally different from justice. I think putting them behind bars for more than half of their lives is harsh enough.
