The way we have to live

With the nation, there are several factors that cause mayhem throughout the country. One main factor in my community is pollution. In the Little Village community located in Chicago Illinois, has a key symbol of pollution and it is the coal power point. Every time when my family went out of the neighborhood I can always remember seeing the coal power as he last thing of my community. Once we come back i don't have to ask my dad "Are we there yet?", because I just looked for the power plant.
Research from Harvard students found data that was surprising to the neighborhood. They found from a house to house survey in 2001 that the majority of people that were born with a sickness was due to the coal power point. The main disease is asthma a breathing disorder.
Having this type of knowledge, an organization called LVEJO took a fighting step forward. Over the past six the warriors from LVEJO have been supporting our community as well as other community organizations. In the summer of 2006 the first ever field trip to the coal power plant was about. Unfortunately I wasn't capable of going due to the fact that I can't handle the pressure of the fumes due to my asthma. But we had an outstanding group of knowledgeable Social Justice students going to this first ever trip. From what the majority recalls, it had bad inner structuring, awful fumes that several students complain about, and only one person from the Little Village community had ever worked in the coal power plant.
This is what a social justice issue is all about. The neighborhood has been struggling with this issue before it was called The Little Village community. Back when the Polish and Irish were living here. There has always been racial tension in this nation. Having a source of pollutant were minorities live in this case a coal power plant is called environmental racism. This still continues and affects black, Irish, Polish, Latino, Asian, and especially towards the Native Americans. We have to struggle together as bothers and sisters or perish as fools. The struggle continues.
