In the bible God condemns it pretty strongly. So why are there pastors and church leaders that are accepted and ordained ministers and still allowed to be gay?
Before God destroyed Sodom and Gemorah (I did not spell that right did I?) it talks about men having sex with other men and even men wanting to have sex with the angels that were staying with Lot. He tore that city up. Homosexuality is condemed in other places as well. Mostly in the Old Testament. Do not try to tell me that the old testament is not valid anymore because Jesus was quoting it all the time in the new testament. So what's up with this? How is it that they are getting away with being gay and being church leaders? I am not just trying to be a jerk, I really do not understand how they are getting away with it. Yes I am against homosexuality, I mean come on, it just isn't the way we were made. God did not make Adam and Steve, it was Adam and Eve and for a reason.

i think its up to the person to decide if they're willlin to sin against their faith or to follow who they are.
It seems to me that you already answered your question, "Is homosexuality wrong?" Honestly, if you're against homosexuality, there is probably nothing I can say to convince you other wise. But you are confusing the subject of sexuality with religions and they are two separate things. Did you know that there were many sexual activities going on within the church in ancient times? And I doubt that they stop now either. People never talked about it because they didn't want to hear it. There must be a reason for why gay people exist, and I'm sure it's not a mistake done by God. Maybe there were Adam and Steve before Adam and Eve. We weren't there. We wouldn't know.
Well your first statement ("In the bible ") kind of killed the whole argument.
You start off by assuming that for one; the bible is correct about something, and two; that your entire audience even cares what the bible says. If you're going to use the bible as proof or evidence of something, then your audience should be entirely Christian. Christians can debate about the bible all day, but when you address the people of Progressive U, then you really shouldn't use the bible as evidence or proof of anything. Because now, you're going to have all the non-Christians ripping you apart (and some will even use the bible to do so) because you assumed that everyone believes or should believe in something that is unbelievable.
Anyway...
First of all, homosexual and bisexual activity was very common before the Christ God ever came around, especially in ancient Greece. Some societies looked down upon it, but it wasn’t until the rapid spread of Christianity that homo and bisexuality was really seen as something terrible. Many historical figures of our times to include; Socrates, Michelangelo, Donatello, Alexander the Great and many others were said to have had sexual relations with people of the same sex. That doesn’t make it right or wrong to say the least, but it just goes to show that this isn’t something new that we’re dealing with today.
These practices have been going on all over the world and are still very much accepted in many places. When I was stationed in the Republic of South Korea, it was nothing to see guys walking around holding hands and whatnot. It was said that many men there in Korea usually had sexual relations with their best friends until it was time for them to marry. And then, the men would still remain friends, but they would no longer be “sexual” friends. I’ve heard that this still happens in many societies today.
For those of you (religious Right) who say “God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve”, I must ask; what is your explanation when it comes to the animal kingdom? There are many species (especially social species) of animals that engage in same-sex activities / relations. Some of those include certain species of birds, beetles, sheep, fruit bats, dolphins, monkeys, orangutans and many others. This discovery tells me that homo and bisexuality isn’t always a decision. The fact that homosexuality is found in the animal kingdom tells me that it is very possible that many people are born that way. Of course I believe that some people do indeed make the decision to be gay, but not 100% of the time. As well documented as homosexuality is in the animal kingdom; does it not make you wonder why God would create such animals? I mean what would be the point? Did God actually create gay or bisexual animals, but not intend for humans to be that way? I find that hard to believe and being that these animals do exist; then why is it so hard for people to accept homo and bisexual men and women?
I read an article, which stated that the Bonobo African Ape (which is very closely related to humans) has nonreproductive sex 75% of the time and almost all Bonobo Apes are bisexual. Another one worth mentioning are male dolphin calves. When dolphins are young, they are known to form temporary relationships (sexual) with other male dolphins. These relationships most of the time turn out to be lifelong friendships or bonds.
We as a society must get over the fact that not everyone makes the decision to become gay or bisexual and that it may just be the way they were born. The mere fact that homo and bisexuality exists in the animal kingdom should be more than enough proof that some people are just born that way.
Cases of animal homosexuality are now being brought into the court rooms to fight against states that ban gay marriage and whatnot. I’m not gay and obviously not Christian, but I hope that the animal kingdom will continue to be there to provide proof and to help the gay communities get what they deserve…their rights!
Tabias-
Well, you ask questions which can be easily answered. Frankly, I doubt you are sincere in wanting to learn the answers, but on the off chance that I`m wrong, I will give you some.
You cite the story of Sodom in the Bible. That story is generally accepted to be about attack and gang rape by an invading mob. The Hebrew story from which it is translated into English doesn`t actually say they had sex or that they were all men (it does say that the strangers were hiding behind locked doors and that the mob attacked them}, but some versions have changed the words to confirm the assumptions that the victims were men and that the attack likely included forced sex. In any case, it should be obvious that attacking and raping innocent and frightened strangers who are hiding in a house is a vile action, and it certainly should not make any difference whether those being attacked are men or women.
Hospitality to strangers was a vital virtue in the culture, and references to `the sin of Sodom` in the Bible talk of that sin as being the inhospitable treatment of the strangers.
The story had nothing to do with same sex couples or even gay individuals, since such actions were carried out at that time by armies to hurt and humiliate enemies and did not imply that anyone was gay. The story could be about women being attacked (and may have been, since the Hebrew uses a non gendered word for `people`} and it makes the crux of the story no different.
``Do not try to tell me that the old testament is not valid anymore because Jesus was quoting it all the time in the new testament.``
There is a difference between referring to a story people know and telling someone to imitate the characters in it. The characters quoted in the Old Testament (and some in the New} believed all kinds of superstitious ideas about what their God wanted. Haircuts were an abomination, you know, children had to be murdered if they swore, and animal sacrifices had to be made on mountaintops.
Jesus referred to Old Testament derived ideas to bring attention to the fact that His ideas did not agree. He said, `You have heard.... but I say....`
You sound very much like a modern day version of those who asked how any Christian would not know the earth is flat as the Bible supposedly said, or those who in the 1950s attacked my grandfather because he said blacks were human. After all, the Bible said otherwise as far as they were concerned.
In any case, you can believe any old thing you want about religion as long as you just let it guide just your life.
If you think, for example, that Adam wore fig leaves and Eve was a woman made out of a man`s rib and that means you have to wear nothing but fig leaves and surgically remove one of your ribs and that you must never taste fruit (because they learned that lesson}, then go nuts.
But you can`t expect everyone else, not even Christians, to go along with it.
God gives us choice....He shows us the path then gives us choice whether to follow it or not...so no GOD did not intended people to be GAY.....he just wanted to see how many would choose it for themselves.
STILL WRONG
Citizens of the United States have a Constitutionally protected freedom to make up their own minds when it comes to religion. Arguments of this sort are completely irrelevant.
I am reminded of a great quote...
"I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires." ~ Susan B. Anthony

First off....that reply was in response to someone asking if GOD intended people to be GAY......
secondly.....Since the BIBLE is the greatest selling book of all time I am not standing alone by my feelings.
BIOLOGICALLY HOMOSEXUALITY DOES NOT MAKE SENSE
