When I was younger, I used to love watching MTV (especially since my parents didn’t want me to). They played music videos all day long. It was how I was first exposed to many great bands.
Now when I flip through the channels to MTV, I’m appalled. Firstly, they need to change their name. They can’t call themselves Music television when they hardly play any music videos anymore.
When I see it, they are playing stupid shows like Parental Control and
Laguna Beach. These shows make me want to gag. It seems like the only people they allow on that channel have to be good-looking. Why not show some real people? The only show that comes close is Made.
What I really care about is music. I only get MTV and VH1 on my cable TV. VH1 plays videos in the morning, but then all they play are “celebrity reality” shows. I guess the best way to watch music videos is by downloading them on the internet.

i don't understand what's so great about "laguna beach" or "parental control." they're all rehearsed. they do need to play more music videos more, there's no point in calling it MTV. i used to get home at the same time everytime to watch music videos, but there's always something else on that is boring. and the fact that there are no real people on those shows. if they wanna call it reality shows, they need real people of everyday.

I'd have to agree. I think the whole "reality tv" fad has taken over television, no matter what channel it is.
They have some shows like Mini Talent show that are fairly entertaining. MTV plays videos from like 4-? I'm not exactly sure. Music videos aren't that popular anymore in general. I can see them actually dying out, just as tours are becoming less popular. Most major artists aren't even coming to Detroit this year, and this is Rock City. Kind of sad, but true. With internet downloads becoming more and more popular, people are able to get what they want from it. They don't need TV. For MTV and VH1 to continue to exist they had to adapt. For better or worse is the main question though.. I guess that lies in people's opinion
