Polar bears are dieing and this is tragic. I love the environment and spend hours with friends cleaning up the environment. The problem is what we are dong isn’t enough.
The UN has sponsored meetings to combat global warming and they aren’t getting anywhere. The US the biggest contributor, 25% of global emissions, didn’t even go to a large number of these meetings. And even if the US did participate in these meetings it wouldn’t do enough.
The animals that are cultivated for human consumption 100G a day release more toxins into the environment than our cars.
Also everyone would have to stop flying. The India times released a study which showed airlines link to global warming.
Will people ever give up the luxuries we know for the environments sake?

No, I won't stop eating meat to end global warming because I think that all of those things that Al Gore is saying about it is wrong; also, I think he should retire because he's looking old and ugly. Furthermore, I'm sorry that I said those things, but I'm against Al Gore and the democrats because I'm a republican.
I'm upset to see what our worlds coming to. I probablly will never be able to see a polar bear up close, but the U.S. is not the only contributor (sp?). I'll help in trying to reduce global warming once everyone stops blaming the U.S. and starts looking at the other countries of the world, especially China!
All I can be is simply me

In our country, I don't think of meat as a luxury....I think of it as a dietary staple. I think the focus should be taken off something as difficult and large as meat consumption, and put on something smaller or easier to accomplish. Baby steps. If you take something as big as meat consumption, people will feel as if there's no progress and eventually just quit. You said you spend hours cleaning the environment, and yet think it's not enough. Who knows? Maybe within a few years there will be more and more people cleaning up the environment and you WILL start to see a difference.
Times flies like the wind; fruit flies like a banana.
Okay first of all, you wouldn't want to see a polar bear up close because it would probably kill you. Cut and cuddly is not in their job description.
Second, I will not give up eating meat. It is my right to eat meat, just as it is my right to not believe in global warming.
Thirty years ago we were in a stage of global cooling and scientists were predicting that in ten years people would need to wear gas masks in major cities. Well, I'm not wearing a gas mask and last I heard, we're now in global warming.
The reason why the US did not sign the Kyoto agreement and does not attend UN meetings is because the UN is a largely anti-American establishment. And the majority of the countries in the world did not sign the Kyoto agreement. It was mainly signed by Europeans, whose CO2 emissions ahve actually increased since the signing. China also produces more CO2 emissions than the United States.
Will you stop eating meat? Will you stop flying? Will you stop using your car and public transportation and use a bike to get places? What about giving up your heating oil? The fossil fuels that heat your oven and home?
Al Gore says that that is what people should do. Yet, his private jet produces more CO2 per person than a commericial airliner. His Tennessee home uses up more electricity than the town it is.
Global warming, to me, is ridiculous.
