Reality Television

Reality television has been taking over our flatscreens for quite some time now. MTV was once known as "Music Television" playing music videos and having more entertaining shows than they do now. I mean the public viewers can only handle soo many re-runs, seeing the same guy Next some skanky girl. Now the younger generation is watching this reality TV crap.

Being from California, I know what life is like here and those Southern California reality shows just show complete madness. Sure I'm from Nor-Cal and wouldn't understand, but I realize that they are also in their own little world down there. I used to go to school in South Carolina, in a pretty small college town, and I watched the season premiere of The Hills with some of my friends there. They are mostly from the mid-west or east coast, but this image from the Hills is the impression they get of California and even more so, Southern California. Not to mention that the show itself is all scripte, but based on actual events that are exploited. No wonder Heidi and Lauren aren't friends anymore. They got caught up in the Hollywood drama and lost sight of what's real. Their friendship was real, but the outside influences made them become their worst nightmares.

I don't get how Southern California natives can just sit back and let their area be depicted like it is on these shows. Young adults going out to nightclubs, underage drinking, and adult-mature situations are being shown to impressionable young minds through MTV. Sure it gets people to watch the show, but everyone these days thinks our youth are growing up too fast and no one pin-points why. No one ever bothers to tune into television and see this madness in front of their face. Forget reality television, this is reality!!!

Take pride into what you're viewing and others around you. This kind of television rots your brain and makes you ten times more lame.

lol. There's no such thing as "reality" show. I have a feeling that the producers planned some of the dramas out already. Even the participates themselves know who they are and what kind of people they will not get along with. I think producers for Real World is brilliant in away that they can bring out the worse side of people out. It's really interesting. I feel bad as I watch those poor contestants humiliate themselves in front of America. Yet, it doesn't stop people from watching them or trying out to be a part of those reality shows. Pathetic. Just a thought.
